Re: Why everyone runs to AC?
AC will net you the most amount of money of a CDN airline if you start young and you can get to WB capt 20+ years down the road by the time you're 50. If you're over 40 when you start you'll either be a NB capt or WB FO by retirement if you want to hold a decent schedule. During that time you'll hav...

Re: T/O or Landing during Solar Eclipse
There's no definition of totality that refers to the level of light. It doesn't mean complete darkness. What we call totality is totality. It's the geometrical obscuring of the sun, and when it's totally obscured there will always be some light.

Just don't self-report to TC you looked at the eclipse, you'll likely lose your medical.

Re: How will Immediate roadside prohibition affect career as an airline pilot ?
This is worth what you paid for it, but I don't believe you have anything to worry about. The only times I'm aware of you'll come across an inquiry into your driver's abstract would be for your RAIC, and clearance for a gov't agency or regulated subcontractor. (Medevac, fire, gov't charters, etc) Fo...

There's some misinformation in that post. So to clear up for anyone else reading this and considering the E2B route; While you are entirely correct- there are agencies who should be approached with varying degrees of caution, as is anyone who is trying to sell you something, however the number of su...

Re: The end of Flair?
This antagonism towards Flair is totally misplaced. All they're is doing wrong is possibly failing against a government who've created a hostile aviation environment that is 7 times more expensive to operate in than our neighbours, and the most expensive operating structure in the entire G20. Maybe ...

Re: PayScale/Deductions
Very true, there are 2 months a year where you get an extra paycheque. So at base level that's an extra $3500ish, net, that changes the numbers mentioned above a bit.

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
So their workaround is booking through a classy third party aggregate site, cheapo air- owned by 777. I assume it's temporary. I checked a few flights, and many didn't translate to Cheapo. The one flight that did was $199 on flyflair but $305 on Cheapo, hope it's just WIP. I've flown Flair several t...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I’m 99% sure we don’t use Sabre or Radixx, ours is processed through Amelia. Your numbers, below, illustrate in perfect clarity why pilots should fly, and leave the bookkeeping tasks, to bookkeepers. I won’t say everything is fine but I will say you should shut your yap when spouting off on topics ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
My error. It looked like Flair's site was up as of 7:30 am Sunday morning. https://www.sabre.com/radixx/ Whatever is going on, this issue is isolated to Flair. My observation was based on flight options being generated by the system, which is more than was possible in the previous 24 hours. I have ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Hmmm another unpaid vendor finally pulling service? Seems odd to me that these "glitches" (ADP and now this) start happening when Flair's payment processor is withholding cash until services are rendered to the customer stopping Flair from using tomorrows bookings to pay todays bills. This is preci...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
This kind of publicity is the worst. The article's tone borders on malicious. Yes, they're rightsizing their schedules for the season, and tempering growth, and have a negative balance sheet with a self-admitted end somewhere down the line, (!) but to lead with a catastrophic assumption does a lot o...

Re: Having issues with Medical?
It's so frustrating hearing these anecdotes. Transport Canada Medicine seems to have further devolved into an increasingly dysfunctional, opaque organization. CAME's I've spoken to lately are less than complimentary of the recent changes. I've ben told it's now an ex-military doctor in the lead who'...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Rudder, purely as an aside conversation, I thought that ADP was authorized to distribute existing funds from what is essentially either a charter account or an account wholly managed by the corporation, with access authorization to ADP. I'm only basing this on what I've seen from looking at small sc...

Re: PayScale/Deductions
Well, mostly true. I do know for a fact while comparing 1st year paystubs, TS was ahead of AC. Deductions sure narrowed the gap but takehome was still slightly more. The comparator at TS had opted out of the CHP coverage but that accounted for only a small portion. The LTD/STD deductions are a hotbu...

I'm bored. Like really bored, so here goes :) So, there's no MFF yet, and unknown if it'll proceed. It needs to come with a generous kitty if it does. I've flown both, and I have a definite preference, Pros and cons from my perspective; (As a caveat, some of my info on pairings is several years old....
