Re: Magworx

We've used Magworx a dozen times now and have been happy with their service. Aubrey, will go out of his way to deliver mag's to us, by flying them out.. I think it's just an excuse to leave the shop and go flying, but it's great service nonetheless.

Re: Painting Rivets?

We use orange fine line from FBS. I think Lordco carries it, along with a bunch of the autoparts stores. 1 of the keys is to not 'stretch' the fine line over the rivets, Then heat shrink, and press in around the rivets with your fingernails. If you stretch the fineline over the rivets, when you heat...

Yes you can.. just ask your school for a t2200. I've done it, been audited and been found good. And it was for taking my training same way you are.

Re: Ever fly coast to coast in a Cessna

Jacks story is pretty interesting. . He got his license a few months before I got mine. . His reasoning for doing the flight was 2 parts. . 1 for the adventure and 1 to look at the northern passage and to see if he could take his jetski through the pass. . (He took his jet ski around vancouver islan...

Hydro marker balls being removed from bc hydro lines

Just a heads up. I just saw this posted on another forum I frequent. A word of caution to pilots - BC Hydro is now removing marker balls at various span crossings in the province that have been there for years. Some locations have had much smaller marker balls installed which are only visible from a...

Re: Learning from mistakes - too much mistake

after damaging a plane through failure to apply best effort, they should be handed coveralls, a drill and a rivet gun! (And yes, I have seen an instructor so tasked following their second land short accident!) Might want to re-write this... I originally took it as you being condescending to mechani...

Re: converting production aircraft to a homebuilt

No. . Look up the definition of fabrication in transport canadas 51 percent kit evaluation. . This is the same evaluation that the mdra uses. You have to introduce a significant amount of fabrication. Which includes fitting deburring painting and a whole slew of other items. . Be ready to define you...

Re: Ame M - can I not get E after M?

I was under the impression that my m1 license gives me e and s on m1 category aircraft (if the amo gives me the permission to use my m1 license that way). My s license gives me my s on m1 and m2 category aircraft. An m2 would give me s and e on m2 category aircraft.. So right now I'm working in a sh...

Re: converting production aircraft to a homebuilt

It could be possible depending on what you are doing.. if you were fabricating a whole bunch of items in order to make 51% of the aircraft following the mdra's check sheet. . It could be possible to do. . Most of the time it is done by taking a substantially damaged aircraft and getting the 51% insp...

Interiors are the same as the rest of the airplane. . If your airplane was type certified under civil air regulation part 3 revision xx, that is what you're interior has to meet in terms of standards.. but if your airplane was certified under Canadian aviation regulation 5xx, then you have to meet t...

Re: Learning in the US?

Yes you can do this. If the intention is to fly helicopters commercially, I would do a bit more research about getting a job afterwards. Some employers frown on getting your license this way because supposedly the training isn't as good in the u.s.. I don't know if I believe that or not. I have a fe...
