Now that's an over run! (vid)

Aircraft held up pretty nicely until it went through the fence.

IIMC in a Robison(?) helicopter. Vid.

The description in the link says it all. Talk about perceived pressure. Sad.

This is meant as a serious question. Can he still log this as PIC even though he wasn't qualified for the flight?

Re: Martin Mars damaged during Precautionary landing at OSH

It's easy to armchair quarterback after-the-fact. There's nothing in the story to indicate how high they were or how long they had to decide about putting it down. Indeed. Nothing in the article states they landed with a full load either. Only that the problem occurred after they took on a load of ...

And what SHOULD the consequences be? If you have caused delay/diversion and resulting cost, you should pay all the compensation - and be banned from air travel. Probably close enough, $36K. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/actress-gander-drunk-plane-emergency-landing-1.3575511

Well, that's an oxymoron.
My bad, I had put it in italics to denote sarcasm. As in; it is in fact not simple at all. I should have been clearer.

Re: Jazz Q400 Right main landing gear collapse YEG

Hind sight being 20/20 it was a good call to ask for ARFF standing by for just a simple blown tire landing. I always ask for fire trucks whenever I have something going on. I have had fire trucks chase me down the run way more times than I can remember. Every single time, it turns out, they weren't ...

I don't normally like partaking or speculating in such threads but -1G might do that in a standard turbine engine.

Do they not show any return on LED lights of any type? With everything including lights of other aircraft and even runway lights going to LED now does this not seem like a huge limitation? https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/certification/continuing-alert-2009-02-695.htm Basically it is only som...

How to crash a helicopter. It's an interesting read. There is some relevance to the fixed wing world.

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

So back to my original question....do you people think this is more a case of 'We figured out what's wrong and all is safe. We are going to be broken when we land. It is better to be broken in Toronto than Heathrow.'?

AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

Question: Just curious why they chose to go all the way to Toronto? I am not second guessing them, just trying to understand why.

Re: Survival Gear

Interesting subject in light of the recent 150 accident, so.... For the small plane owner, and the renter of small planes. 150s, 172's Pipers etc., what should you/do you carry? Don't forget it is, in my opinion, what you carry on you that is most important. Remember that twin that crashed south of...

Re: I hate the radio.

I remember flying the Hudson River. It's uncontrolled and quite busy. It has mandatory reporting points as well as how to report it.

Type
Position
Altitude
Direction of flight

Simple and most effective.

Last I checked the current temp was about anywhere around 45-51F. I don't think you will be floating for too long without a PFD.
