Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
Don't know who some of you self appointed and self righteous super pilots are but I have flown with a few. I am now training on the most advanced aircraft I have ever had the pleasure to sit in. I do know that some years back several super pilots tried very hard to sewer my career. Well I kept at it...

Re: Where is this so called shortage
There is a shortage just not as some have mentioned in Canada. I have flown is Asia, Europe and the Middle East often training new FO's right out of the simulator with 200-250 hours. They are starting on say a CRJ1000 or some other similar jet/turboprop. B737,A320 ATR42/72. In SE Asia and the Middle ...

Had my first Rouge trip YYC to YUL. Great service and the IPAD entertainment was quite satisfactory. Being an AC supporter I was still quite happy with the end result.

Galvin Flying Service at Boeing Field has the facility for FAA exams. Nice folks happy to accommodate your schedule. Not Vancouver Island but maybe a close option.

Re: Thinking of leaving aviation
QUESTION? Do you want to fly airplanes for a living? ANSWER Yes. Now is a very good time to enter the industry. Better than any time in my 61 years, just do it or quit with the complaining. It takes a certain amount of hard work, studying and a little bit of good hand eye coordination. Jeez Louise t...

Re: what if people stopped taking jobs at regionals?
Well I have worked and trained pilots with 250 hours in Europe and Asia. Do they make every landing, no. They land when conditions are suitable which is most of the time. The system in Europe and Asia exists because there is really no commercial General Aviation similar to that in Canada. The majors...

I LIKE IT: Looks sharp and a nice change from toothpaste green. This year marks "80 years" as the National Airline a new paint job and some fresh looking uniforms are a nice change.

Re: Bearskin Pilots ratify 5 year deal
75-100K is very likely more than a training Captain makes at Encore. You do have the big "jet" out there for you some day.(if that's what you want). I would have to agree with earlier posters, if what you want is an airline career then an FO job at the " Bear" is well worth the 10K right or wrong. I...

Re: Suncor flight dept shutting down?
The CRJ-900's are Suncor assets, while they may pass through YMX. There is no need for them to go there they are not leased aircraft. All are configured differently and I can guess homes for all three based on current fleets and several operators.

Re: ATPL for co-pilots on a 705 Aircraft
I'm afraid that would shut down most asian carriers ASAP. Whether the board members like it or not, the average FO at say Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways has 180-220 hour total time when they start their line training in a B737NG, A320 or CRJ100. That is life in Asia and...

Re: 2 Air Transat pilots charged with being impaired
What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. A fundamental principle of our law and the British as well since that's where ours come from. I have no inside information but this would not be the first time a crew or individual pilot was accused by airport security or the cabin crew only to be ...

Re: Jazz purchasing more CRJ900s (assume converted to 705s)
Delta Connection Airlines operate CRJ900 with 76 seats. The lay out and seat tracks, bins etc are the same as the 705 with one exception. An extra seat in economy. I suspect that changing the original 16 705's to CRJ900 will be a paperwork exercise that Bombardier will assist with completing. Sales ...

Re: Bombardier to do....what?
This what Bombardier does, sell airplanes. If you need help starting an airline or running a corporate department they can point you in the direction of people who can for a fee help you with all of the above. They have been doing this for years in both commercial operations and corporate. I would b...

Re: Westjet cover up: Alleged sexual assaults by pilot
Privateer, why is it that people, yourself still somehow feel that Air Canada is tax payer funded. I doubt there are many on this forum who ever flew on it when it was a "Crown Company". Something it hasn't been since 1989. "Westjet" have done a brilliant job as a company but, and I say but if they ...

Thank you piano keys for saying what I've been thinking for the time this thread has been going. That young lady is the same age as my daughter. The idea that something as serious as this may have been ignored or swept under the rug is quite simply horrifying. As a father I would be ready to string ...

Re: Suncor flight dept shutting down?
Suncor got into the CRJ operation in 2006 because the local charter providers couldn't and wouldn't commit aircraft to the various projects. Suncor as other oil companies run a fly in fly out schedule. It has to be run to accommodate the operation not an airlines schedule. This was the main reason t...

Re: What exactly were these chopper cops saying YWG
Rule N0. 12 ( not sure ) Never say anything in a flight deck you don't want to be read from the CVR or heard line of sight across the airwaves. Listening to yourself on a "Tower" tape while you babble on and cuss with a stuck mike isn't really that funny. It also is something some people never forget.

Re: Private Operators SMS
If you're a CBAA member consider the ISBAO package. The course and the SMS are less than many providers charge to set up a program,. You then have one for your company and you will know how to use it as well. Having taken it a few years back I found it quite useful and have used some portions many t...
