Re: Boundary Bay flight schools

So there definitely are good class 4 instructor's around, you just have to research and find them. I believe the quality of instruction at a flight school, again, comes back to the leadership (CFI), and how smart he/she is. For a good CFI, will know the difference between good and bad instructors, ...

Re: Boundary Bay flight schools

Hello Randleman, Thank you for the posting, you should note that Professional Flight Centre, has moved into a brand new facility 9 months ago, just to the east of the old main terminal building. Our complete operation including dispatch, breifing rooms, simulator rooms, and flight planning is compl...

Re: Any pilots who fly/have flown for a living in the US?

Cool, thanks! Kenmore is definitely a dream for me :) Do you know what their pay scale is like?

And you're saying the regionals don't care about degrees? My plan IS to work toward an online degree, but at the moment I do not have the money to do so :P

Re: Boundary Bay flight schools

I'm not much of a fan of Pitt Meadows, so I'd go either at Boundary Bay, or if the drive is reasonable you could go out to Langley. If you do go at BB I'd go with Pro. I trained there a bit and was quite happy with it. Their facilities are old, but that's due to the fact the terminal building is old...

Re: Any pilots who fly/have flown for a living in the US?

Based on your information, I can see how things go as far as an instructor, but me being a guy with no degree and no money for an instructor rating, how would the towing banners/skydivers route go for me? Do that for 1000 hours then....That coupled along with the fact I have no degree would handicap...

Re: Any pilots who fly/have flown for a living in the US?

Thanks a LOT for all the info guys! I really appreciate it.

It sounds like my best bet would be to head down south and look for a banner towing job, and than hope to get into the regionals? I don't have a degree, so how would that fare for me?

Any pilots who fly/have flown for a living in the US?

Alright, first off, this is not another "should I train in the US or Canada?" Thread. I have 300 hours, my Multi/IFR and CPL finished. Being a dual citizen (Canada and US), I have recently been studying for my US written exams for my license conversions (not that there is much to study here..), so m...

Re: Two crop dusters collide in Rosetown.

WELL said. Why the heck are we debating a final? Are pilots really so ego-istic we have to win every discussion? Even the tiny minor details? What's next? Whether a zebra is white with black stripes or black with white stripes? I agree with Trey Kule. Glad you pilots got out okay, please don't do i...

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Brown Bear, Don't forget, not EVERY place uses flying as a "dangling carrot." The company I am working on the ground for does not do that-they only put future pilot hopefuls on the ramp to fill space. A company like Keystone, is a different story. They work you on the ramp and say you'll get to fly ...

Aside what is post in avcanada jobs or PCC, anyone knows where are the most small operators concentrated on? Thunder Bay? Winnipeg? Regina?Calgary?....any idea? I am going to have a chat directly with the CP`s but I do not want to drive. Just get a plane and go to them, and eventually drive the car...

Re: Two crop dusters collide in Rosetown.

How the landing aircraft joined final is a moot point; I wouldn't be surprised if Enforcement doesn't even bother to give it more than a cursory discussion. What they are going to nail his hide to the wall for, is landing on an already occupied runway; his "I thought he would hold his position til ...

Re: Two crop dusters collide in Rosetown.

It's perfectly legal to fly a straight-in final at an uncontrolled airport. It does not contravene any CAR. If it did, then every pilot that ever flew an instrument approach to an uncontrolled airport would have received a registered letter from Enforcement. i would argue if you make any 90deg turn...

Re: Crash pilot appeals remaining conviction

I would argue that this is an industry wide problem with 703. I've seen it in so called good companies. Modifying paperwork to show that you are not overweight, flying a charter without a PPC and calling it a training flight on paper. The difference is that they haven't had anything happen yet to g...

nope, never flew there. Got a better opportunity elsewhere before my time came.
Who cares what I worked? I was still exposed to the company, and I saw everything that went on first hand. You on the other hand? To suggest the title of your job or what you fly is what defines you is mental.

Re: Crash pilot appeals remaining conviction

Randleman You are wrong. The pilot took off with what he thought was "just enough" fuel which obviously turned ot to be 5 min short of enough. He then handled his low fuel emergency extremely poorly. Should he be held accountable for his failing , absolutely. But the fact that he was carrying "just...

Re: Crash pilot appeals remaining conviction

This is why it pisses me off when law suits are settled out of court. Just how much did Keystone and the Attorney General (Transport) have to pay to keep thier complicity out of the public eye?!!? It was fairly simple. All the boss from Keystone did was say to Transport "you conduct regular audits ...

Re: Finally hit the 100 hr mark but.....

Don't worry man, I had the same issues, all the way to my 250 mark. Keep flying, and tell yourself you are a good pilot and are doing things right. The butterflies will go away. Especially after a scare it's okay to be nervous. A flight with an instructor wouldn't be a bad idea either. Find an instr...

You could start with Perimeter and start bagging Chicken Delight.   You could always groom planes at Keystone. They will even pay you 9 dollars and hour and give you one day off per week!! The lowest paying job at Perimeter is 25% more pay than a place like Keystone or Fast Air (...

Isn't that just saying "Bad pilots urgently needed?" If it means anything, I have been to both Sprinbank Aero Centre and Calgary Flying Club. I loved both places, but would take Springbank Aero in a heartbeat. And I am NOT an employee there.
