Re: Saudi Red Sea Global C-208 Amphib Pilot Job

So… anybody bite and go to Saudi to try this gig? There's a bunch of us who would love to hear the real dope from the horse's mouth Or are they still trying to recruit??? I messaged with them out of curiosity but declined also.. didn't even get into the numbers, just not a place that lights a fire u...

Re: 2022 Float Pay

Just looking to get an idea of what would be a fair rate for a guy flying Otter/208 Amphib in the flat part of Canada. Thanks in advance. $10k a month is probably a good benchmark. I wouldn’t go much less for caravan/otter. That was actually what I was thinking but wanted some up to date perspectiv...

Thanks for the input. That was what I made in 2013 for an Otter (+ room and board)

That's that Hot Wings mod from years ago that includes the winglets. Is there something else up for approval?

Re: Electric powered Dash 8 is coming

https://www.zeroavia.com someone's going to have to come up with a far more efficient method that scales up to match the needs of the aviation industry. I live in Scotland and it's starting to get some real buzz going here. Distribution to aviation from private sector is not a giant leap… https://d...

Re: Electric powered Dash 8 is coming

https://www.zeroavia.com ZeroAvia is already flying a hydrogen powered Malibu. It is a hydrogen fuel cell that powers the electric motor. Oxidation of the compressed hydrogen takes place electrochemically during which time the hydrogen atoms react with oxygen atoms to form water; in the process elec...

Re: Kobe Bryant chopper crash

To those of you making comments about Kobe; please, have a little class and only discuss aviation here. You're empowered to believe whatever you want about the man, but he was an iconic athlete loved by millions of people around the world. A lot of people are rattled by this. ...Why not mention his...

Re: MERGED power curve / floats posts

No. Classical crosswind takeoff technique is to start the roll ailerons into the wind, smoothly bringing them them to arrive at neutral aileron when the airspeed reaches five or so knots faster than a regular takeoff speed with a small amount of forward pressure, then back elevator to crisply unsti...

Re: Float flying technique

experience has demonstrated to me that there are many times when pilots use inappropriate techniques for no other reason then they think it is a neat thing to do… … different techniques should be used appropriately, and not necessarily routinely. Two good points, and I would add that appropriately ...

......knowing when to use the technique is not so basic a pilot decision making skill..... In previous threads all I read was....use it all the time... Re: Seaplane down in China

So what would induce a Chinese operator to draw float/amphibious pilots from a country that has such a dismal record in that sector? Is it because we're so good at it or is it because we'll be willing to take bigger risks or is it because there a so many seaplane pilots in Canada that you might jus...

Yes the cultural background is important. You need a Canadian pilot to be perfectly safe…... Nobody does anything stupid here! I don't recall anyone saying that without a CDN pilot at the controls, this or any other flight is doomed. The simple fact of the matter is that the vast majority of highly...

Re: Seaplane down in China

And like I mentioned before, while keeping it on the sweet spot, apply full aieleron and lift one float off first. Few floaters can do this with any level of dexterity, mostly the procedure ends up sloppy, a little dangerous and never leads to any improvement in TO distance!! A couple secs. of sing...

Grand Caravan EX 876SHP, which has a maximum torque of 2230ft/lbs C208 EX Max Torque is 2397 ft/lbs The rudder on the EX Amphib is plenty for directional control. Running out of leg (poorly positioned Captain's seat) would be my best guess as to why this "unexpected" left turn happened. The sad and...
