Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes

I agree the article reads like an advertisement...

"top seaplane airline"
"I'll be the first guy to fly one"

Entertainment Tonight :)

Re: Easy to forget

Pelmet, this thread was a good read. I forgot about my Ichiban noodles on the stove while reading it though... Damn it! The advice about taking off your left shoe and then simply slipping it back on made me laugh. Brilliant! So how did it all turn out with you and Rockie three years later - are you ...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

No, not everyone wants to work at Air Canada. Hard to believe eh? I wouldn't mind the pay cheque and benefits of the wide body captains but the type of flying isn't for a lot of us. I have a good book at home about a bush pilot that ended up going into the airlines in his 40s and became Captain on t...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

Believe it or not, yes, you can have a loyal group of unionized pilots that want the best for the Company. That is what a good contract is all about. That is why there will be an agreement reached that satisfies both sides. It makes the most sense over the long term.

Re: Everyday at WJ : union busting

Who is this Weed pro John guy? Reading this thread as one who has no connection to WestJet my first impression is to say I feel lucky I can live life without being forced to fly with a pilot who is so distracted. Perhaps he is a good person and he is a pleasure to be around? How do I really know? It...

Re: WJ Scab List

You work at an airline that started up with scab type pilots, lowering the bar for all... No problems hiring more scab types at Encore, those seats are filled. Now you are upset about Swoop? Ha ha. Not many pilots out there in Canada that didn't scab themselves out at some point in their career... T...

Re: A President’s Message and a must read

The weekly job posts looking for pilots looks like part of their fight against the fatigue rules. We can't find pilots and look how hard we try... we even went so far as to ask our passengers if they know any pilots. Maybe I am wrong. I wish them well with the search.

Re: Legal Marijuana

I would say yes, there is confusion if Transport Canada rules state that no drugs can be in your system when you fly rather than impairment by them. ALCOHOL can be detected in advanced urine samples 80 hours after a drink and in a hair sample after 90 days. There are thousands of flights each day ca...

Re: Legal Marijuana

I would find it very hard to believe that someone that is a professional pilot doesn't know their own body and mind well enough to tell if they are impaired whether it be from legal drugs such as alcohol and soon to be THC or from fatigue or stress. Transport Canada knows this and that is why they w...

I have to agree with 180, have some fun while your young and can actually handle the hard work and stress... you won't regret it! You'll know when the time is right for you to "get out" even if getting out means going back or changing careers. For me it was in my mid thirties when I became a father....

The pilots asked for and did what they felt they needed to do. Can't see why anyone would have a problem with that.

Bottom line is when these new regs do come out most of us will have the opportunity to be more rested. Thanks to the unions that are pushing for a safer work environment. There will always be pilots among us that will work themselves hard and never admit to anyone they are tired, be it for financial...

I am never "thrilled' by my experience with TC during licence renewals. My last 2 IFR renewals never came in the mail and where getting close to the 90 days - this forced me to contact them. I naturally thought I would be going through the same "service" with my most recent licence renewal. Hold on ...

Re: Notice of Proposed Amendment - Seaplane Operations - 201

In these cold temps on the West Coast right now how many would survive in the water even if they did get out with life jackets on? Engine failures do happen in the turbine Otter and its just a matter of time before one quits over the Straight in high winds and heavy seas. Even a successful landing c...
