Re: 1900D to mainline or regionals?
Stay and go Captain on the 1900 for a year. There is a good chance you will be laid off at some point in your career and it could come in handy then. It will also set you apart from the thousand other FO's with no PIC time, give you confidence, and make you a better pilot.

Re: Renewal ADBs Coming Out - Check Them Carefully
True, the old licences were simple and effective. The temporary licences I have received recently are exactly like the old licences with the advantage that TC sent an email with a PDF so I could print out of the licence. So yes there is a lot to be said about the old licences.

Re: Renewal ADBs Coming Out - Check Them Carefully
Sent mine in January 2024, arrived March 2024.
Agreed, quality wise its nothing special, yeah its crap compared to the old ones ha ha, but it does the job. Remember the old licence and medical was just a piece of paper so this one beats that I would say.

I just paid. No back date.
For delay in printing booklets I was told they are not printing any right now due to “supply chain issues”.

Re: Transition from the bush to an airline - I could really use some advice
All the above by Altiplino says is right. First things first. Take the steps to get your ATPL first. You will then get on with a 705. Others on here will know the best places where Air Canada likes to hire from. Once there you will have all your other questions answered by those around you and will ...

Re: Whatever Happened to Saltspring's Airport?
I just visited Saltspring Island this weekend - fun little day trip. I too wondered if there was an airstrip there, so I googled it - found this old thread, as well as this article from 1972 about its opening. Looks like it was mired in controversy from the get go: http://saltspringarchives.com/dri...

Re: Winter ski operating temps
Hi folks. I have lots of experience on floats but am virtually a virgin on light aircraft on skis. So I have a couple of questions. 1. On a day fishing trip, how long can I park a plane and what is the lowest temp I can expect without a heat source. 2. What is the best. way to keep the engine warm ...

Re: DHC-2 exhaust & cabin heater
You should be able to rest your coffee on the heater duct to keep it hot. DHC-2 on floats. It was cold, small lakes were starting to freeze. River was still open. The cable to the heater on the exhaust broke so we lock wired the door shut so we could get full heat. What could go wrong? 30 minutes a...

You are still young so why not follow your dream?
Everyone on here that is a working pilot somehow did it and so can you.
Don’t worry about the money, you will be able to meet your needs, and be happy doing it.
Go for it.

Re: Electric Float Pump
I worked for one place where something like that would have come in real handy ha ha. A good workout in the am is great stress relief! When you have to continue those workouts in the afternoon it gets to be a bit much. ;). How tight an operator keeps their floats is usually a good indicator of the m...

It's ideas like this that could help improve working condition for pilots in Canada and there is no time like the present with the current experienced pilot shortage. I hope to see more positive feedback on this thread as from prior reading on this site there are pages and pages of complaints of wag...

Re: Flair off runway excursion YKF
Glad no one was hurt.
In one article I read a passenger got a text from Flair something like "How was the flight?". They were going to respond it would be nice to get dropped off at the terminal next time They also said they would travel with Flair again in the future.
No big deal
