Re: Questions about ATC in the Military
Also she's been told that only officers actually get to "control" aircraft but in my experience I didn't think that was the case. Is that true? She would be going in as a non-commissioned member. I can help you with this. I went up the tower in Comox a few years back, and there were non-commissione...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island?
Another new article on floatplane safety worth reading here: http://www2.canada.com/nanaimodailynews/news/story.html?id=7ee5c6d9-8add-4a01-bb26-fa5a8019517a I don’t think any of the recommendations on life jackets would do to well. Like it says, inflated life jackets would make it almost impossible...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island?
We are all assuming that the pax were conscious and not able to open the doors. IMHO blowing off the doors when ditching in water is not such a great idea. The water rushing in would surely sink the plane in seconds instead of minutes. Now don't ge me wrong...I know that no Beaver has a door that s...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island?
On CTV news tonight they reported that the pilot tried to take off three times.... They also report that the weather was not a factor and in this I have to disagree. I was flying that afternoon and there was a lot of windshear. Both the wind direction and speed varied considerably with altitude so ...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island?
Was working the dock here on Salt Spring Island when the Seair plane left for Saturna. I hope everyone is ok.
EDIT: The aircraft that crashed was not the same one that left Salt Spring. Thought so at the time though.

Can Ex. Canadian Forces controllers get hired with NAVCANADA
Question is in the title. Can controllers that have been
trained and have served with the Candian Forces be
hired with NAVCANADA as experienced controllers? And
What is the process, do they have to be trained again.
Would NAVCANADA prefer CF controllers over new trainees?

Starting Young: Tips
Hi, I am graduating this year from highschool, and I am looking at applying to be a controller this July when I graduate. I have been working with floatplanes here on the coast for 3 and a half years and during such time I have talked to many people about becoming one and it seems like something I w...
