This was shown on The Aviators this week, and they interview the guy. Yes, it's a hand prop.

Well Buttonville won't close for years yet, so you can definitely get your training there. That isn't a factor in your choice.

I think the article is trying to make a distinction between this and ballistic sub-orbitals.niss wrote:Someone wanna tell me what it is we fly through?Changes in Latitudes wrote:

Re: Flapless aircraft unveiled in UK
Also there have been plenty of flapless aircraft, including a whole range where they're controlled by shifting weight like ultralights. Even ignoring ultralights there have been unmanned aircraft build that are controlled weight shifting and gyroscopic alteration. It's not a first. It may be a first...

Hmmm, structural support failure from the looks. Interesting that again it's an SAS plane.

There was a slew of them the other year, that caused a massive panic, but ended up being improper maintenance of the aircraft at SAS rather than a fault or issue with the design.skat0r wrote:Is it me or is this not the first time that this happens to a dash-8?!

made my first grass strip landing today I noted the date of your posting: 11 sep 2010. I also flew to a grass strip on 11 sep 2010. Like me, did you also receive a phone call from the police afterwards, expressing their concerns that they thought the Arabs were attacking on the anniversary of the W...

Do you have to go back to Victoria that night? As if not it may be cheaper and easier to stay in Van overnight and get a commuter West Coast Air or Helijet over in the morning.

First Grass Strip Landing
So made my first grass strip landing today. Was having some issues with picturing my precautionary and we were near Greenbank, so we starting using it. Now that's fun landing. Surprisingly forgiving, but I'm not used to such short strips. Come in, watch the trees, check for trucks on the road before...

Just like every other Ryanair "idea" that they know is completely impossible and illegal before they go to the press. All publicity is good publicity and that is the card that Ryanair keeps playing, and people keep buying it. Even if it was a plausible idea, lets face it the extra pilot isn't the re...

And sooner or later, Toronto Island will be shut down by the condo commandos. Not sure how it's still open after all these decades of whining and politicking. Not so sure on that one. Community Air has been losing support constantly these last several years. The demographic around the airport has c...

Yeah. The schools at CYTZ are completely closed this weekend, but that may be more to do with the jets tearing through the airspace all weekend.

I was mainly referring to posters on this thread. But yes, you are right in that assumption. After all statistically 50% of the population is of below average intelligence. I must say that after months of study for the written I was still disappointed to get 87%. I was hoping for higher. Yes it's a ...

Re: Studying for PPL Written Exam?
People don't think you can sit some practice tests and then pass the written, infact most people have mentioned that tests are useful to highlight your weak areas that you then go back and study on. You can't read everything in the days running up to your test, but the practice exams will tell you w...

Re: Studying for PPL Written Exam?
I'm writing mine today. I've found that doing the practice exam at the flight school to get your letter is good practice, it'll let you see your weak areas. Also then the practice exams in the back of FTGU and The Canadian Private Pilot Answer Guide are good (in fact the later book is very good for ...

That's bizarre, because BAE unveiled their first stealth jet UAV four years ago, the BAE Corax. Mind you this report is from the Daily Mail, a rather unreliable tabloid in the UK. Looking at this one it appears to be the Corax with low level flight wings rather than the high flight endurance wings i...

Re: Nobody in Toronto Gets to Sleep During the G20
I live right by the Rogers Centre and we keep getting buzzed by Hueys all day. These pilots need to be reprimanded. Seriously they're flying lower than the top of our tower, and between the towers. They are far too close to the buildings. Looks to be not much more than a rotor diameter from building...
