Re: Surgery
CRJ900 Did you have just one stone or more than one, and where exactly were it/they stationed? I would expect that TC would want to hear from the Urologist as well as receiving a copy of a post-op CT. Once you have had a few stones in the past, chances are that you will likely have more in the futu...

Re: Hip Replacement
STH I still have both of my hips so far, but have come across at least two first class pilots that had one of their hips replaced, one as a result of arthritis and the other because of an injury. Both returned to flying big birds post recovery. Hip replacements are a dime a dozen these days with com...

Re: Having issues with Medical?
Nonmedical I am sorry to hear about your story. It must be exceedingly frustrating to say the least. Both Bede and Truecolors have given you some useful advice. Before getting too excited, I am interested in knowing what happened to you physically, that started off this TC nightmare. You can PM me ...

Re: Is losing your medical common?
I would not worry about losing your medical down the road, much like i would not spend any time over being hit by a bus six years from now. Life just happens as we go... Now spending time at a university is a different story. I will say that even spending a few weeks at a university is Not a waste o...

There is no such thing as dropping a load accidentally.
Some unintended action by the operator is usually at play in every instance, unless one is brain dead, IMHO.

Re: Post vaccination drama, deaths and Jerry...
The purpose is a bit of free advice, couched in slim sarcasm... There clearly are some people on here that have not been taking their meds as evidenced by the futile discussions ad infinitum and the obvious unsoundness of mind laid out page after page. Told you, I had nothing better to do around mid...

Post vaccination drama, deaths and Jerry...
I found myself with nil to do around midnight and promptly landed on the Covid Runway. There is little left to add or discuss re the pros and cons of vaccination, mortality rates, Pilot Incapacitations etc , however, the drama continues unabated. It occurred to me, as it was to bound to happen as th...

Thanks, PilotDAR,
I will pass that along too.
Oh to be young again, and start the whole adventure all over again. This time over, I would aim for the big iron, along with my first love in a white coat.

Nice to see you guys have a sense of humor

Should be exciting to see her up in the air.

Toronto Area flight school
I am on the West Coast and one of my young relatives in Toronto is keen to start ground school leading to PPL
Any recommendations from anyone in that area on the name of a reputable school in the general Toronto Region?
Very much appreciated

" Increasingly Bad Back pain" Sure, likely muscular in origin, however, I would only say that if you had this looked at by a clinician and everything else is fine. You may be in that age group when it is a good idea to rule out an underlying problem underneath those muscles and whatever else is far...

Re: Medical Examination (CAT 1) after Kidney Stones
I dont see why you would need to have a CAT scan to show you dont have stones now. If your urine is clear, by microscopy or dip stick, with no detectable blood in the urine, then that should be the end of it as far as this exam is concerned. You are already doing pretty much everything that you can ...

Re: Mountain Accident Thread
Tough place to be stuck without a map, around Lilloet. I have a personal aversion to using the GPS in mountainous terrain, which is pretty much all of BC. I still fly with the paper map on my lap and occasionally look at the GPS for ground speed. In bad weather the GPS is a dangerous siren that can ...

Re: Guys is thyroid medication such as "Levothyroxine" approved by TC for Cpl ?
moemoe , My read is that Transport does not have a list of approved meds, but rather takes the approach from a disease point of view and its implications in Aviation Safety. Medications come and go, but disease processes are usually here to stay, making the disease being treated, the focus. There ar...

Re: Where did Dr. Gary Magee go?
Dr Gary... retired last Sept They dont make 'em like that anymore... Time for a whole rethink of the delivery of primary care across the Country. The current iteration is broken and there is no fix in sight. Medicine is more like a calling than a job, a voluntary service to one's community. If that ...

Bede, you and my long gone dog Bello, were gifted with a good nose, but he couldn't count past one bird at a time.
I was being kind to Anafranil when I referred to it as and "old horse of an antidepressant", in reality it is more akin to a Dinosaur, roaming the Dark Ages of Psychiatry.

when will this Covid Pandemic really end?
I thought I had said it all in answer to another thread, however, I should clarify a couple of points. Optimism is a good thing, but when it goes against factual evidence it does nobody any good. This virus is like no other in that it mutates faster that you can change your shirt, and it is going to...
