Re: Definite Stall/Spin Accident
It appears that he was attempting to land, bounce up and then tried to go around with full flap, which is something the 152 is unable to do. Student pilot became task overloaded imo.

Re: GA flight to Montreal
St-Hubert is your best option if your destination is the Biodome and downtown Montréal. Short UBER ride to the metro. Landing fee under $15 for a single a/c (under 2000 kg) and about $25 if you require Canada Customs. I would favour FBOs on the south side. The one on the north side is more for large...

Re: Putting my own fabric on my airplane without experience
Great project for winter. I have done it under an AME supervision. Lost of information on how to on uTube and Stewart System has the whole process in video. Recovering also means paying very close attention to the tubulure and you will need help for any repair to its components. Like Pilot DAR said,...

Condolences to the Barch family.
She was an Air Transat flight attendant and an aspiring airline pilot. Very sad.

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.
I am new to this forum as of today and looked at this blog simply because I KNEW it would be interesting to look at. At least for a page or so and then I became quite bored. One language on the airways is enough and should be mandatory in Canada and the entire planet. It just makes sense. I flew th...

Re: uAvionix SkyBeacon installation in Canada
Most of us flying into the USA on fairly regular basis cannot wait for NavCan to make up their mind about ADS-B. Also if Canada is alone in requiring 1090ES, this market would be so small that no avionics developpers be interested in meeting the canadian 1090ES requirement for small aircraft. If Eur...

Re: uAvionix SkyBeacon installation in Canada
Not to beat a dead horse, but I am looking at installing an ADS-B system in order to enable flight into the US after Jan 2020. Since we have no mandate in Canada yet (and nothing really on the horizon for GA), I am looking at installing the uAvionix SkyBeacon 978MHz UAT device in my PA28. Has anyon...

Re: Commuting In/Out of Uniform & CATSA
I debate a security matter with CATSA HQ when I was with the airline. I asked them to show me the regulations applicable in the matter and I was told that CATSA regulations are classified. So as an aircrew, you are required to abide by CATSA regulations but you are not entitled to known what these r...

Re: Vans RV4 info
From what I hear, don't bring a partially built kit into Canada (lots of paperwork and hoops) and if you find one in Canada, be sure it has been registered with MDRA or at least, no sections closed up before they get inspected. You have probably looked into that. The largest risk with bringing in a...

Re: Vans RV4 info
If you like the RV-4, you would like the RV-8, a better aircraft all around and the price increase for building a -8 would be negligible or possibly even less. Then again if I was only interested in -4, I would buy instead of building. Good ones available in the 45-50K US. Personnally, I built a -9 ...

Trip report - East to West and back
I just returned from a trip to Whitehorse and back to CSE4 with my RV-10. Very good service at FBO's across the country. Cheapest fuel was at CYXY, most expensive at CYQT, $2.50/Ltr and $65. ramp fee on top and it took them 20 min to make up the invoice. Best service was at Grande-Prairie, Alta. - H...

Almost fake news. Planes are at least 50 feet AGL at the Mayo Beach on short final 27. And I have never seen people trowing stuff at aircrafts.

Re: Citation down North of Kelowna
Can some one clarify for me if the pilot was a retired RCMP Air Services Pilot, or an RCMP Officer who also happened to fly? The reports make it seem like he was a pilot on the side (not air services) and that he took on "commercial" flying after he retired - but it's not clear. Looking for clarifi...

Re: Pilots and Alcohol
Did the police have them blow or take a blood sample? I'd think if they did it would have been mentioned in the story. If not, and if they wernt drunk, I'd hope they sue for as much as they can, because that's some major career damage. The article says they will appear in court. So the police have ...
