Re: Talent Pool CL-415
You can put up with a lot of shit for the right money. If you could make $180,000 plus might be able to take it. Captains can make all of 10-15 grand more then an FO. Sure some senior captains make 120-130 but they are in the training dept and take the overtime, overtime for what is usually your day...

Talent Pool CL-415
Let’s give prospects a bit of insight. 5 people quit this year…. First off as a pilot group we should avoid this employer until they increase wages. Search “ pilot” on the salary disclosure website. You will make about 85-90 as an FO and you will just crack 100 as a captain with overtime until you a...

Re: Pilot shortage …? Reality or fake news ..
There is definitely a shortfall of qualified pilots due to the conditions of the industry. I have a hard time reading this “they can’t get people due to low pay….” This was never an issue up until aboot 2016. A lot of pilots signed bonds and stepped on the next guy just to get to Jazz … in your 30/4...

Re: College of Professional Pilots
What we need is an association, not a body to take over licenceing. We don’t need people handing out punishments or doing investigations. We need people to help us with good “guidelines” (as opposed to rules or regulations) to guide the aspiring pilots. The Canadian Association of Professional Pilot...

Re: RCAF reserve as a second job
In order to wash out one must first apply. Being a pilot in the CF is secondary to to being an officer. I have a CD, jump wings and do not wish to be a pointy head but thanks. Time at the controls means just that, actual logable time. If you have 20 years and 2000 hours your about as skilled as a PP...

Re: Saskatchewan Provincial Park Restrictions for Float Planes
That’s exactly what I said Bede. They can not make a regulation on the Take-off and Landing of plane. The take-off and landing and where and where not a plane can do this is the “core” of aviation. The service of alcohol provincial laws would only apply while the aircraft is on the ground. It would ...

Re: RCAF reserve as a second job
While Air Canada may not have wanted you, there are several smaller operators who had you had the qualifications might have looked at you. Just like the CF attitude, not a lot of operators want x military guys. The Canadian military and flying are severely disconnected. Maybe one day we can all just...

Re: AIR BRAVO
Digits I don't know what would hold up in court. That would depend on the contract, your ability to understand and argue it and the judge. But they will most likely come after you and if you don't defend yourself you have to pay up. If that's a risk you would want to take.... well that's totally up ...

Re: Saskatchewan Provincial Park Restrictions for Float Planes
Provincial governments can not technically make regulations on the landing and take off of an aircraft. Bodies of water no matter where they are, are also the sole jurisdiction of the federal government. National parks are another story because they are administered by the Federal Government and the...

The bond is quite solid there so if they fire you becuse you dont want to put fuel on your credit card or some other call you make that they don't like..... It's $15000 bones and they seem to be holding onto that even in these times. Major legal issues with the city of Elliot lake and I'm sure other...

Re: Offering Flights with a PPL
The same would be true if I flew people in my private king air toy. The Airlines have missed the mark.... Air Taxis too. It’s those little things... Like insurance, a company that is local to sue, a driver with the proper licence and medical etc. Most cabbies don’t own their car and if they do even ...

Re: Offering Flights with a PPL
I read a “business insider” issue I think it was. People think this is totally legit to do in the air. I won’t ride in an Uber anything. Underground cabs is all they are.

Re: Offering Flights with a PPL
It’s going to be interesting as those “ride sharing” companies try and break into aviation. There are a lot of people in the mindset that this will happen. They beat taxi companies some how, there no way you are sharing your car. You are driving for hire and reward, you don’t have the license or the...

Re: Thinking about plane purchase
A nicely equipped 172 with the right floats enngine and STCs will more then do the trick. Useful load on them can be 7-800 lbs. the 180 is maybe 900. If you want a year round plane you probably want a nose dragger too. Definitely cheaper on insurance. How often will you have 4 people in the plane? A...

Re: Maintenance costs-engine size
The 180 and a properly equipped 172 are not as far off as you think. 172s can have from 160-210hp and with the right floats and stc have a payload of 7-800lbs. 180s have 8-900. That said the price to buy a 180 and 172 on floats is not always that far apart. Sometimes the 172s are more. I flew one fo...

Re: New pot legislatiion brings on talk of pilot pee in a cup
There gonna have a real hard time telling pilots especially private pilots and ultralight pilots they can't do this. They won't be able to segment us off either as lots of private pilots also have a bare bones cpl as a tax write off. I know we want to think we are the smartest people in the world bu...

Last loser I knew who went there had to pay 10k upfront. Bad pay, they do give you housing or an allowance. You will get to see Greenland. The people who work there are the people no one wants to give experience too. Got a licence did a few piston jobs but just can't get past it. So they go there to...

Re: Evertz Microsystems
That new job ad was much better. But like everyone is saying, stop being a stone people step on. The best kept secret it could be. The Glassdoor reviews on the non flying side are that it's an ok place to get experience but not a long term career. The chief complaint is the low pay across the board....

All people are saying mate is they want more info. People don't want to waste their time especially in today's market. Your former employee gave better details then you have. How hard would that have been. Average we give you 12hr notice, we give you scheduled days off, we have a bond of 8grand, you...

Slow clap for you. Trust me I am not applying. All of six years eh.... wow I'm impressed. Clearly the other pilots who worked for you were not impressed. Small corporate flight department for as you say such a big company don't have turnover if they are a good job. Not like you have been having over...
