You can bet WestJet is licking their chops on those slots. They're probably calling Boeing right now about those 10 787 options.

Re: More WJ layoffs
They have the booking numbers for the fall when we should be fully emerging from this pandemic. If they want to hold a reduction bid that won't be a good sign. I remain optimistic that travel will return quite quickly. Think of all those TikTokers and Instagramers who who need to travel to get them ...

Re: Does Westjet meet the current threshold for foreign investment?
While Westjet is private and there’s little to no way for average Joes like us to see foreign ownership, I’m sure it’s a different story for the government especially when they already had to verify and approve foreign ownership levels during the sale/privatization. Also, Onex has done fairly well ...

Re: Air Canada Second Trip to C.C.A.A.?
Let's call a spade a spade. AC buys AT so the government doesn't have to bail them out. In return you get a bail out in exchange for a large share of the company. Same old sh!t

Re: Air Canada Second Trip to C.C.A.A.?
History has a funny way of repeating itself. Instead of buying an airline started from CP Rail you are buying another Montreal based bloated whale. Between Bombardier, and SNC Lavalin, and AT once again Canadian Taxpayers money is being dumped into failing Liberal strongholds. Consider yourself in a...

Re: Air Canada Second Trip to C.C.A.A.?
I have no hate on for AC as you assume. AC will get its standard tax payer funded bail out and continue being bloated and privileged. I guess you feel triggered and need to pull out the pink tie, and Costco jokes because I start bringing out the financial facts. Enjoy yet another B pay scale.

How many more rounds of funding are needed to keep the ship afloat? AC stock is going back to low teens at best.

Re: Air Canada Second Trip to C.C.A.A.?
I post a quote from an article about AC taking a $4 billion dollar loss and you guys pile on like a herd of sea lions. Hilarious. Let's be clear about something. AC is bailing out Transat so the government doesn't have to. It's a salvage operation to protect Quebec jobs.

Re: Air Canada Second Trip to C.C.A.A.?
Motley Fool: Air Canada seems to be falling behind its biggest competitor on refunds, you can’t completely blame it. In 2020, AC has lost untold billions of dollars. It lost $1.05 billion in the first quarter, $1.7 billion in the second, and $685 million in the third. That brings year-to-date losses...

Re: Swoop alum
So very true. There are those that burn bridges and those that jump from ship to ship to ship and do nothing but cause damage. I'm still amazed how it only took 26 or so off the street hires to cause so much damage to this industry. Most are gone except for a few managers I think and it will take y...

Re: Science-Based Alternative to Ease Quarantine Act Restrictions
There will also be an election if he calls for a second shutdown. If the US has taught us anything it is we could loosen up restrictions a bit more and still not get anywhere close to what they are seeing down south. You can cause more death in your country by suffocating the economy than Coronaviru...

Because a poorly drained cabin door causing an inflight shutdown is no big deal.

This is why airlines stick to what has always worked. Like a 737.

If you think AC will go bankrupt you are dreaming. Just like when years ago you were cheer-leading WJ and all your predictions on eating our lunch. And if you are hoping for the fall of AC, I think you should be more worried about your own backyard. If AC fails, WJ will be in more trouble, and you w...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
I posted this in the General Airlines forum but I thought this would give some guys food for thought on the future of the AC-Transat deal. Morning Star: "Many investors are betting on a rebound for Air Canada stock. That would lead to 200% upside or more. The more likely scenario, however, is that t...

Re: Airlines need to shut down to survive
From Morning Star. "Many investors are betting on a rebound for Air Canada stock. That would lead to 200% upside or more. The more likely scenario, however, is that the company goes bankrupt. Even if Air Canada can continue to raise capital over the next 12 months, the dilution will wipe out any ups...

Re: Will Westjet survive?
You’re missing the point Brooks. As all of those companies are held privately through ONEX, people don’t know how big those companies are, what the sales are like, profit margins, assets, etc etc. They are buried beneath layers of funds and equity stakes. Plenty of information in their 171 page ann...

Re: Will Westjet survive?
Brooks, Thirdly, WJ is a piece of ONEX’s portfolio. ONEX has other companies that are under the COVID squeeze. How’s the admissions at the movies, or the production companies? Spirit manufacturing has been hurting since the MAX fiasco. The aircraft leasing company is facing hard times for sure, as l...
