Re: Multi tools

Ive had the Leatherman Charge for a long time. Only used the knifes and the screwdriver. I just picked up the Skeletool. It has the Knife that is used all the time and a screwdriver with a spot to store a second driver end. It was nice to see that the belt clip on the end is also there for a bottle ...

Behind Enemy Lines,

I found a VHS copy of Air America and a machine to play the VHS things. So its looking like my vote would be for Air America.

Re: 126.7 In NWO

Isn't English the primary language in aviation? A position report is the same call no matter where you make it. 10 min back then 5 final and down and clear are all the standard calls. The only need for more than that is for traffic avoidance. Not to hear your own voice over the radio. Let's keep 26....

With the ridiculous security checks at airports there is even more of a reason to drive across the border.

Either a twin otter, single turbo otter or caravan can all carry at least one quad plus gear.

Re: Good thing we have all of this "Security"

When I used to work the ramp at YYZ, once I got my airside security clearance The only security I saw was the fingerprint reader to get through the door to airside. My duffle bag was never checked. I brough my backpack to work after a camping trip forgot my hunting knife was still in it. Didnt reliz...

Re: Floats: Turbo Beavers vs Turbo 206's

Putting the 206 on floats was thought of after cessna designed it for wheels, the beaver was designed to be put on floats from the start.

Re: Caravan Fuel Burn

The grand caravan I fly for a DZ has a pt6 114, 600hp, it burns 100 lbs of fuel per load. Climbing to 14,000 feet I was doing 20 to 25 minute flights with 14 jumpers on board. I average 800 to 1200 fpm climb depending on pax all the way up.

Re: Texting and Flying??

I always use my iPhone in flight to keep operations in the loop of when I'll be down for my next flight. I get signal in the climb until 7,000 to 9,000 feet, I once had signal at 12.5 to send a sunset pic. If I loose signal I get it back on the descent around 4,000 feet but by then I'm on final appr...

Re: What amount of money would bring you to a reserve to fly

2009 NWONT, Sandy Lake, 206 on floats and 207 on wheels, $2500 month, had to buy food and telephone. Accommodations, sat tv, running water and shower in the house along with washer and dryer all supplied. Would I go back, hells ya! The owner and chief pilot were great people to learn from, they had ...

Re: Cessna 207 anyone??

With the amount of space you have inside the 207 i dont see a need for the cargo pod, as it will reduce your speed more that the amount of weight it can take down there unless you are carrying bulky stuff then you might want it to through small stuff in. the cargo pod does not increase the max weigh...

Watch the weight in the very back. if taking passengers put one in the cojoe seat first then load the rest of the passengers. dont forget the front baggage compartment it can help move the CofG forward. you got the 550 in it? dont let it get too far below 90 on final and fly it onto the runway, dont...

Re: Winnipeg Airport seizes planes to collect on debt

I find it hard to believe they needed to repo 2 - TWO 757 Jets for a 1/2 million dollar debt. I understandd their owed money, but what gives them the right to repo two aircraft worth millions of dollars to cover a debt worth less than 1/6 the value of one of thosee jets? as you are an obvious newco...
