Re: 3 dead, 2 uninjured in NWT

Shocking door design. The rear passengers didn't have a chance. Will the appropriate authorities do anything about this..NO. Until the egress issue, on floats, is addressed - I think that all C206 should be restricted to land operations. There is a simple solution yet the regulators refuse to act o...

Re: Airspray, Buffalo, Conare and Government?

The Conair pilots just signed a new contract with Conair. They received a massive raise. One of my friends is on a committee for the pilots. He said that they got a 41% raise. I am not sure what the equates to in an actual dollar amount, but I would assume it makes them the highest paid water bomber...

My sources are telling me that "big red" out west, has pretty well been selected to take over the fire suppression
portion of the operations.

Re: PUSH PUSH, IN THE BUSH

The caravan,in my opinion , has two issues. The first is it is not pressurized, and thus tends to, once entering icing condtions, remain in them, which eventually overwhelms the aircraft's capabilities. Beavers and otters were not pressurized. Pressurizing the caravan, IMHO, will only push the airc...

Re: PUSH PUSH, IN THE BUSH

I have a thought/question? Is the Caravan the problem or it is how the caravan is equipped..modern avionics, auto-pilot top of the line GPS system. And is it how most caravan pilots are trained - IFR certified and usually some sort of flight safety type of course under their belt. There was mention ...

Airbus C295W water bomber

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/water-bomber-airbus-1.3312324 Says that a company in BC is going to supply a water dropping tank for the aircraft. The Airbus 295 is in the running to replace our SAR Buffalo aircraft. Do you think having it available as a water bomber will sweeten the ...

Re: Overdue Cargo Airplane Bound for CYXS

The only thing I can think of besides my fear of what happened.....would be a possible elevator cable failure or maybe pitch trim actuator failure with a severe pitch over, leading to breakup. However - I think it would be a first for this airplane type. Of course - no one has mentioned a bomb...so...

Ever since I heard about this crash - I've had this nagging feeling I suspect I know what happened.....for now I'm not going to post my thoughts as there is not enough evidense to speculate on what happened. Last thing I want is some news nut or rumors starting based on some feeling I have. If my f...

Re: Air Canada Accident in YHZ

It will be interesting to see the ultimate cause of this accident and it shouldn't take long once crew are interviewed and CVR/FDR are analyzed. I guess if you call 2 years not taking long. The Germans crash an aircraft and within 48 hours we have a a cause. This will take years of planning to cove...

Hit power lines on final, and landed 1000 feet short? Is this accurate? If you look at Google Earth you can see the power lines are about 920 feet from the threshold. And note what appears to be pieces of the localizer antenna or approach lights (?) sticking out of the nose and wrapped around the r...

Re: Coulda feathered the props

Worst thing you can do is feather the props in this situation. Rotating in fine pitch the tips just bend back as the props hit. Stopped and feathered the whole width of the blade is resisting the bending forces. This is a great way to break the crank and bend the engine mounts or warp the firewall....

Was there variable tailwinds on final? Must have been a fair amount of drag to pull him/her into the ditch.
