Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

Not really....it all matters on sinority not on experience. First year/second year....doesn't matter your number comes up and you want to go you go. Without the reciprical company's would have to reduce there flying during the winter to what they could fly during the summer or maybe slightly more. O...

Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

I mean CanJet is not the only company doing this, as you know Sunwing is also doing this and not in limited capacity either...I did 10 turns for Sunwing last week and counting from memory I seen 4-5 foreign pilots and that is no exaggeration either...2 captains 2-3 F/O's. The difference between Can...

Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

BTW, Canadian pilots will always have first shot at these positions, you just need a current B73C type on your license. There were no NG pilots walking the streets to hire...everyone was working. I know guys at Sunwing ready to quit if they were forced to deploy! Nobody has been forced to deploy in...

Re: Should Canadian Carriers be allowed to hire foreign pilots?

If there is a surplus of qualified pilots in Canada, there would be no need to hire expatriates from other countries. So here is a question. What is a "Qualified Pilot" in regards to hiring foreign pilots? Is that a type rated pilot, a pilot with Jet experience, a pilot with a jack in the box licen...

Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

CanJet pilots you should hold your head in shame if you think that this is anything but pathetic. Read again.....I chose my words.....I didn't say all CanJet pilots.....I said CanJet pilots that "think that this is anything but pathetic". Sorry if you confused my words. I said those that think the ...

Re: Should Canadian Carriers be allowed to hire foreign pilots?

Pilots working in places like India, China, Middle East, is strickly because there aren't enough pilots over there. Not because there aren't type rated pilots, but because there aren't enough pilots. Fortunately you have to have a pilots license and not just a type rating, which is why there are a l...

Should Canadian Carriers be allowed to hire foreign pilots?

This question stems out of the CanJet situation. For those of you who don't know, CanJet hired foreign pilots this winter. Although many airlines do this, the rest of them (Skyservice, Sunwing, etc.) have reciprical agreements where they send just as many (sometimes more) Canadian pilots to europe d...

Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

So what your saying is that AC, Jazz, Sunwing, WJ, and everyone else should hire people from all around the world if they cannot find a pilot in Canada with a Type Rating. That is crap. And your excuse as to the none experience for the Captain seat, then why did they bring over a single FO from Germ...

Re: CanJet Making Its Mark

I love how everyone congratulates CanJet. I find it very amusing. Everyone was all over Sunwing earlier this year about bringing German pilots over to Canada to fly this winter. Yet no one has been getting all over CanJet about the same. And the VERY big difference between the two companies is that ...

From what I see Porter is doing just great where they are. LBPIA isn't the be all end all center of the universe that everyone thinks it is. Its has the most expensive landing fees in the world, and you get nothing for it. Oh unless you count the shitty new terminal, the roads work that someone on d...

Well if it makes you feel good, AT has lost about 110million in the last 2 quarters. (4th quarter of last year 81.4 after taxes and 1st quarter this year 29)

But I don't think they will be going anywhere, at least I hope.

Re: Approach ban is pretty much gone

I was told that the improvements to, Thompson for example, would cost $1,000,000. So its not as easy as applying, there are many improvements that have to be made. You cannot taxi at anytime from what I understand if the RVR is below the required value. You can't even taxi across the runway to posit...

Re: Faulty RadAlt brought down Turkish Airliner

Is it possible to handfly with the AUTOTHROTTLES still engaged and/or land with the AUTOTHROTTLES engaged? Yes it is possible. The FCTM suggests disconnecting the Autothrottles when the autopilot is disconnected, but is only a suggestion. And the reason most airlines do not follow that is that the ...

If Quebec wants to be its own country perfect, then we can make Canada a Non-Bilingual country and save us a lot of money. Yo...

Re: Canada Labour Code and full time status?

You may want to remind your union reps that they have a legal obligation to look after everyone inside the union. If they don't the union itself can be held responsible.

File a greavance, the union cannot say no to you filing it, if your reps aren't doing there job, phone the union itself.

Re: Air Canada Strapped for Cash

AC had basically no Far East routes if they wanted them they would have had them. If CAI would have went bankrupt they still would have ended up with them anyway so the merger really wasn't needed to secure the Far East. Actually No, and Not necessarily. Getting those routes isn't an I want them gi...

Re: Air Canada Strapped for Cash

AC would be in worse shape without the merger with CAI. AC had basically no Far East routes, when they purchase CAI they got CAI's Far East routes. C3 was looking at getting the Far East routes from CAI, the only way for AC to stomp down C3 and get those routes was to merge with CAI. Without the Far...
