R44 Raven II
Hi all, My boss wants to simplify the fleet and get rid of our 2009 R44 Raven II. It's mint, and listed in the classifieds. Just wanted to get the word out in the heli world that a great aircraft is available. The thing spends every night in a heated hanger since bought new in 2009 by this owner. It...

Re: Uniform Etiquette
If the company got you a sweater that has a place for your bars, doesn't it make sense that they go there? If they didn't want anything on there then they should have issued the type of sweater that had no epuilettes. Same goes with people that wear pilot shirts without the bars, just looks strange....

Re: How would you answer these interview questions?
Hi there, great questions! Here's what I'd look for as CP of a corporate operation - You find your Capt. drinking before a flight, how will you handle this? -talk to him first, recomend he sit this one out or call in sick, if not then tell him to report himself to the CP. he can't be fired since alc...

Re: Refuse Unsafe Work
Wow, Meatservo... FoxNews much? After that rant did you get in your car and put on your seatbelt? Back in the day people where up in arms about that, even though today we know it's kind of a no-brainer. All that corporate stuff is just trying to change the safety culture. It takes time and there are...

With movement the way it is, I think you're missing the boat with no signifcant multi. You need at least 100 to get on with Discovery, and even they look like they're having a bit of trouble finding people. Spending money on 100 hours multi is totally impractical. Spending money getting an instructo...

Watch out for these guys
I just got an email from a prospective employer/headhunting site asking for a 1400 dollar placement fee. I know this is probably old news but watch out for this stuff. Real headhunters get their pay from the companies, and the companies are tickled pink to find a person type rated. Anyways just want...

Re: Saying no.
Wow, too true indeed. I think a lot can be gained from seeing how politics works overseas then applying it back home here in Canada. We are raised to expect justice, and when it is denied we are in shock and disgusted. As we should be. However covering one's 6 politically is the same here as anywher...

Thanks ., From a practical standpoint it seems kind of silly for me to even care, but I'm just tweaking an ops manual and want to have some definitive stuff for the guys on the line. I'm with you on the Meters thing and hope our southern friends follow suit also since it's done pretty much everywher...

CARS Visibility Question
Hi all,
When the CARS ask for visibility for minimum VFR operations and they mention miles, does that mean NM or SM. I've understood it to be SM, but I want to make sure. What I can't find however is a CARS reference to prove it either way.
Thanks so much

Re: Who would you rather hire?
Trey Kule's end comments there were bang on. I'd only add that showing that you are willing to move to a place, most likely northern, to work hard on the ground is the best strategy. Most larger places that have non-official ramp entry programs based on seniority/merit whatever are the best bet in m...

Re: Expatriate contracts (light jets)- need info
Sometimes in aviation you get the jump because you're willing to work harder or live in crappier conditions then the next person. These contract gigs are like that. It's great experience but you have to have the right start. My advice, get everything you want in writing, as obvious as that sounds th...

Re: Restrict Flight Training to Gov, funded programs?
As for the initial post, Wow, OK, that makes sense on paper, and that's excactly what I thought when I first started. However it does not make sense in the long run and I'll tell you why. First, flying is not rocket science, I mean not even close. The more experience you have the more you realize th...

I tend to agree with the image thing, it's hard not to like WJ. Even years back with the database spying thing. AC has been forced to turn it up a notch though. My wife was on a YYZ-YXE flight last week and a AC flight attendant grabbed her and my 2 year old and found her a check in without waiting ...

Hi,
Does anyone know of the cheapest place to get fuel in the southern UK, France, or Belgium as well as Turkey?
I know this is kind of obscure but any tips on these places would be helpful.
Thanks

Honestly, It's the best company I've worked for. Pilots are treated great. Operations is efficient and professional. Management must stand up for pilots because we never hear anything regarding complaints and issues. You just show up, get the job done, and go home and everyone is happy. From my pers...

Re: WHY can't pilots say NO???
My 2 cents I person is only as faithful as his/her options. If one is in a good position, they will demend good treatment, nice hotels on layover, rental car, no pressure from management, all the rest. They do that because if they didn't they'd be cheapening themsleves. If a person is willing to tak...
