Re: Fort Mac Relief
I'm with Co-Joe on this one. The Red Cross won't be able to do much. Our money is better spent on community organizations in Fort Mac that will be needed for the rebuilding. Like Big Bros/Big Sis'es, YMCA, Lion's club, etc. Doesn't have the same "pzazz", but at least the money won't go towards opera...

Re: Westjet cover up: Alleged sexual assaults by pilot
Whatever happened with "Innocent until proven guilty"???? Y'all are talking as if Pilot M has been convicted in a court of law!!! Has he? Howcome the pilot can't go to Hawaii, which is a US state, but no mention of him being kept away from all US flights altogether... One would think that he is want...

Remember folks, if you're your own boss, you can't get fired or laid off! Sure you can: your customer(s) can fire you. It's just called going out of business, or going bankrupt. Or both. That's all dependent on your business, but yes, the only one who you can blame is yourself. Which is why I prefe...

Re: Calgary-bound Sunwing passengers angry after 8-hour wait
Good thing everything that went wrong that day was out of the control of Sunwing then... Weather... Check! Ground Handler issues.... Check! Big ass pile of snow blocking the jetway... Check! Customs-bound pax had enough of waiting... Check! I'd love to hear what Sunwing could've done here... Because...

I didn't bother reading the 8 pages - lol - of debate, but let's get a few facts straight. I am climate-change neutral, btw. The absolute worst prediction of sea level rise between now at 2050 is 5cm. So no water up to the armpits, like many would like us to believe. In the 1970's, main stream media...

Re: New Leaf (ULCC) starts February 12
I see promise but with bad timing. Promise, in the sense that many of you are discounting using an ACMI agreement for the lift. Well, I know of one airline in Canada that did that in the early years, and that airline is now successfully running as Sunwing. Permanently using Flair would be a bad idea...

recession proof job What would that be? 1) Tax Collector 2) Prostitute 3) Drug Dealer The Government will never go out of business, and people will always have money for addictions and guilty pleasures. Agree on: 4) Government worker. Especially if your government believes in Keynesian economics. O...

Re: Layman starts an airline. The big project
Regarding pt 1 and your fuel cost calculations... Airlines do fuel hedging. The $7.30/gal that you quoted from flightaware in ORD is the retail price for visiting private aircraft. Major airlines have a much lower cost because they purchase in bulk, and thus get a bulk price. (My guess is about 50% ...

Good luck getting off oil. Oil has entered a downturn because of supply glut and will stay low for a long time. So the world will burn it. Because of that, living conditions in the ME will go lower, and extremism will actually rise - "angry poor people looking for someone to blame". Kinda like Oct ...

Of course they are. Perfect? No. But here in the west we have freedom of the press and by and large it's something they take seriously...with some notable exceptions. You can't seriously put western news services on the same page as the outright lies of a true propaganda mouthpiece serving a dictat...

I would shy away personally from holding Assad fully responsible for this. Yes, governmental forces provided the spark when the schoolchildren were arrested, and then they shot at the protesters, no doubt there. But when it comes to your last question... We know what Assad will do to stay in power. ...

Leaders legitimately elected by 80% of the population don't have to kill 220,000 (and rising) of their citizens and force millions more to flee the country to cling to power. And your source for "facts" is a branch of Russian Television funded and controlled by the Russian government. Seriously pal...

Re: How to offer in flight wifi on 703 planes
I remember my ADF needles going haywire whenever one of the pilots had forgotten to put their cell on flight mode, and received texts and notifications. Not sure you want that to happen in the north on final on an NDB app to minimums. That's probably going to be a pretty big hurdle right there.

Are we off oil yet? NO!? Well, lets do that! Muslim extremism will die-down within one or two generation. The Middle East will be no different than SS Africa - not great, but much better. Keep the the CF18s for when the Ruskies get creative in the Arctic. Good luck getting off oil. Oil has entered ...

What the Middle East needs the most right now is stability. Political, Economic, Environmental stability. The US F'ed up by getting rid of the Talibans, Saddam Hussein, Muammar Ghadaffi, and now trying to get Bashr Al-Assad. All of these men, while dictators, were sources of stability in their count...
