Re: Porter and the CSeries

This says 4800' TO roll. Yeah I know its Wikipedia but the refenence section looks well researched. How about just comparing the numbers Bombardier published in their fact sheet for the C Series with other Bombardier aircraft fact sheets? All three fact sheets use the same format. Max Take Off Fiel...

Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .

Unless they plan to blow dry it, 5000' feet is still going to be too short. Listen, I'm just telling you how it is. The runway at YTZ is almost never considered contaminated and the CRFI is rarely reported below 0.50. Anyone flying out of there will tell you the same thing. The TPA bought the best ...

Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .

Thanks for the info. Just as long as no taxpayer money is used to benefit Porter. Well, the TPA is a Crown corporation so I guess your tax money is benefiting Porter and to a lesser extent Sky Regional/Air Canada. Keep in mind, the TPA only recently became profitable from passenger traffic generate...

Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .

How much would the runway and terminal improvements cost? Where on earth would Porter find that money? Runway construction, much like the pedestrian tunnel, would be the responsibility of the Toronto Port Authority. City Centre Terminal Corp. would be responsible for any terminal improvements. City...

Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .

I'm not familiar with what sort of STOL/Cruise performance BBD is advertising for the CS100 but using a 4000' runway (mixed with Toronto's winter weather!) to carry 100+ passengers 1800nm while providing seat mile costs comparable to Boeing and Airbus narrow bodies seems too good to be true. Just a...

Re: Soft Drinks & Flight: Aspertame Content

Side note to Aspartame: Donald Rumsfeld was Chairman of the Board of Searle, the company that owns the patent and was purchased by Monsanto. He used his political connections and influence to push Aspartame through FDA approval. Very interesting (scary?) how modern politics are so intertwined with m...

Re: SkyRegional Flying out of YYZ

fingersmac One thing about the C that doubters don't seem to appreciate, yet. It's intended capability. It would be a whole new competitive game with a CS300 (140 pax) out of Toronto Island with London City service. This thing is Tran At ETOPS out of the box. One can only imagine why it might be wo...

Sorry, I should have phrased my question better. Could you explain what you mean by this statement? I don't understand what you're insinuating with the '='.

Re: Porter

I would like to share my experience with Porter. I interviewed at YTZ with Porter back in june of last year, it was my first ever airline interview and a great learning experience. Needless to say I did not get the job, but what I am most disappointed about is that I never got an e-mail or phone ca...

Re: Eagle Jet International / Pay to Fly

That could be considered similar to pay to fly for pilots. You are paying to get some on-the-job training. No it's not. No one in this industry is required to pay for "on-the-job training". This is only a recent phenomena perpetuated by people who are too lazy and impatient to build their experienc...

Re: Well this has a familiar sound.

Huiyong Holdings B.C. is the majority shareholder at 55%. Canadian Dehua Lvliang International Mines controls 40% and an unnamed party controls the last 5%. Bottom line, if a company wants to setup shop in Canada then they have to employ Canadian workers. As far as I'm concerned, it's pretty simple ...

Roger Martin, dean of the Rothman School of Management, seems to think there is something wrong with modern day executive compensation. Here's a great article that sort of summarizes his views. I think he's bang on. http://www.torontolife.com/daily/informer/from-print-edition-informer/2012/03/21/rog...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet fleet and foreign pilots winter 2012-2013

Foreign pilots, I think, are a fact of life here for awhile until our domestic companies grow large enough to support year round fleets. Maybe its time for AT to recognize that most of the other carriers are doing the same thing, and try and adapt their business plan to use what seems to be a rathe...
