Categories of aircraft
Quick question - what constitutes ultralight, advanced ultralight, a mature built.
What limitations and restrictions are on each category?
For example, is there a Max horsepower on the ultralight category?

Re: Air Canada Revises the Terms of its Capacity Purchase Agreement with Chorus Aviation for Regional Flying
Re-read the press release, the goal in the end is to save Air Canada money, everyone is focusing on the Embraer fleet...but what if no agreement can be reached between ALPA and Jazz, will the 19 Dash 8 300s still be retired as planned....more layoffs ? I'm thinking that it ends up DOH with fencing ...

So you mean to tell me that the political superiors and the 1% all across the world, coordinated this amongst themselves to get your measly savings into their pockets? They coordinated, clouded and collectively decided to shut down the entire global economy just to get my retirement fund? The world'...

Re: 2500hr helicopter pilot looking for work
Is anyone really defending hiring TFW's right now when so many Canadians are out of work? If there are no qualified Canadians who can do the job, this is one thing. That is definitely not the case right now. I'm a fixed wing guy, but if I ever found out that pilots were being brought in to fill a jo...

Re: RIP Max Ward
I met Max when I was working on the ramp at a major FBO 20 years ago. I was asked to bring the fuel truck to a Challenger that had just arrived. I had just set the brakes when an older gentleman grabbed the fuel nozzle and hooked it up to begin pumping fuel. He had preset the required amount and had...

Re: Ramp to Pilot Position Waiting Times
Right now, people don't even know what Pilot-to-Pilot waiting times are. Everything in Canadian aviation is driven by the guys at the top. If Air Canada isn't hiring, Jazz won't lose people to AC and Jazz will stop hiring. If Jazz isn't hiring, people won't move up from Perimeter and therefore Perim...

I don't know the answer. One thing I do know is that this industry is all about learning from past mistakes. I am sure your instructor won't care whether you partialed. He will care that you actually know how to navigate away from the circuit.

You know what sticks in my craw? Seatbelts. If I ever get into an accident, I want to be thrown clear of my vehicle. If it happens to be straight through the windshield, then oh well.

I am told that they are adding 2 machines to start with. At 11 pilots per machine that's 22 pilots. I have heard this is only the start for Calgary and there is expected expansion beyond the initial 2 ATR's.

You never know what someone's motivation is without speaking to them. You can't assume that someone who has worked at AC or Sunwing and sees a future of commuting to YYZ after a possible recall wouldn't want this job. Maybe there is some guy out there who no longer gives a flying Fokker about the la...

With all of the applications they received, I wouldn't be surprised if they're still sorting resumes. My internal references tell me that they have more than enough applicants and all the positions are either filled or will not be filled by "airline people" no matter what experience they have. They...

Damn. Is it for Captain spot or FO spot? How much PIC do you have? Did you have an internal reference? I am just wondering what the new state of the industry looks like. 10,000 hours TT or thereabouts. almost 4000 PIC in a heavy turboprop, heavy lobbying from more than one internal reference, Weste...

Depends on what you are flying. The pain of cheaping out lasts *much* longer than the pain of paying a higher initial price. Couldn't agree with this statement more. No amount of money will correct hearing loss once it occurs. your headset is the one piece of equipment that you interact with all day...
