Re: Altimeter and flying in areas of changing pressures
If the plane maintains a constant true altitude while flying into an area of lower pressure, the pressure around the aircraft is decreasing, thus less air is filling the aneroid capsule in the altimeter, causing it to read a higher altitude. Opposite happens when you fly into and area of higher pres...

Usually got CYKZ-YYZ-OAKVL-HM-CYHM as the clearance, but we were usually vectored south of CYTZ then cleared direct HM

Re: What happend in GA on Sept 11 2001?
Was taxiing out for my instructor renewal at Buttonville when the ground controller said we weren't going anywhere for "at least a few hours". I was flying a YTZ based plane. I think I ferried it back 5 days later when GA was allowed to fly again.

Re: from high to low look out below
If you maintain a constant indicated altitude as you fly into an area of lower pressure without adjusting your altimeter your TRUE altitude will decrease. Conversely, I use to teach "From low to high you're going up in the sky"..which could be an issue for my cross-country students returning to the ...

Agreed..the screaming is over-acted. Plus, you can't see the pilot's eyes..he had the ground and airspeed still visible during his 'fainting'.RVgrin wrote:...my guess is it is not real.

Hey Mike B.. Perhaps like you I, unfortunately, have one of the most popular first names and the second most popular last Anglo-Saxon name in Canada. Hey nottellin, I'd imagine a commercial op like that would have life preservers flying around the Great Lakes, and as SARYQQ said, that allows you to fly beyond gliding distance. Re: Where to report Flight School violations
I was reprimanded for not showing up when my schedule was open but I wasn't booked. Apparently I was expected to be at the school from 8 am to 6 pm, regardless of whether I was flying, without getting paid; if my schedule was closed, I couldn't be booked, so I wouldn't have been flying anyway, and ...

Flock of resting birds on the other side of a runway hump that we couldn't see when we started the roll.
RPM gauge reading 2000 when readline is 1700. Company had rejected 2 mins before us on that one as well.

Isn't winter air generally too dry for carb ice? In 2200hrs of carb engine flying I can only remember getting carb ice in late summer/early fall.

Re: How will the ASI react in a forward slip?
Actually it does change. Remember washout causes the stall to happen at the root first. But, in a slip, the downwind wing's wingtip will stall first. That wing takes on the characteristic of a swept wing as the relative airflow travels diagonally across it.... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/j...

Re: How will the ASI react in a forward slip?
Static pressure surrounds the can (aneroid capsule), dynamic pressure is inside the can. A left slip forces some air into the static, increasing it's pressure and SHRINKING the can. The can also shrinks because dynamic pressure is less in a slip as well. A shrinking can reduces indicated airspeed. A...

Given the benefit of knowing before-hand that you can't get your wheels down, you'd definately land that thing in the nearest big body of water. No matter how you landed it in the dirt, there'd be more than a little 'buffing' to do. Getting the gear down and locked with the airplane beached or nose...
