Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I don't think ANYTING is clearcut, lots of companies fucked around and (didn't) find out. The Bay didn't pay landlords during covid, Porter didn't pay Nieuport rent during covid. The difference with Flair is their leases were likely below market rate so there was in incentive for the lessors to tak...

https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/flair-airlines-accuses-financial-services-firm-of-withholding-25-million-1.2046489 Another tile gets pulled on the Jenga tower that is Flair right now. In Jones's world, it's never Flair's fault and litigation is the answer. So essentially the regulator doesn’t want the ...

Re: Air France tailstrike
Air France and 24L don’t mix. The O5 accident on this same rwy came through a shot of 30-40 tailwind component not too far from the threshold, with the severe wind shifts around some unusually heavy thunderstorm activity encountered at a time when a number of other flights were diverted to alternat...

Re: Transat or Porter?
The sale leaseback is a way to raise capital, eg buy from embreaer for 40 mill, sell to lesser for 45 mill and lease back based on a 60 mill valuation on the aircraft. Port gets 5 million now when the business is extremely capital intensive in exchange for a higher total investment on the aircraft i...

Re: Transat or Porter?
What are you basing this on? The fact that he works there and it's information he wants to believe. Porter being a privately held company, he has no way of knowing its financials any further than what managers and executives tell them during townhalls. I wonder if said managers and execs ever have ...

No, AC see’s porter activity trying to go after their passengers right now with the 195’s why would they give them money?itsgrosswhatinet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 7:58 am Do you guys think Porter will do Express flying one day?

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Just a note from your posted article, revenue growth doesn’t mean profit growth. In fact a company can have 100 million in revenue with a 20 million profit and be much more successful than a company with 1 billion in revenue (10x growth) and only 10 million in profit.

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
That’s exactly it, the CRA can’t seize one aircraft worth over 67 million and be like ok we’re good when flair doesn’t own the aircraft. If flair outright owned the 737 with no loan / lease in it then that would work but it’s not the case. The CRA wants their money and they don’t want to shut a busi...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I think it will be more than that agreement falling through in the next few months. It’s kinda hard to seize assets when you barely have any. If the tail number chart I have found online is correct, all but 3 of their tails are leased. I don’t think the CRA can take things that are actually owned b...

Re: Lufthansa in SFO
It’s not SFO’s fault the Lufthansa pilots don’t know how to look outside and fly the plane. I can fly a visual approach. If my company tells me tomorrow that I'm not longer allowed to do it, does that mean I no longer know how to "look outside and fly the plane"? Come on... Many airlines are not al...

Re: Bearskin cuts routes.
Bearskin cutting routes might have just as much to do with the lack of pilots as their is a lack of passengers. I was wondering the same. Anyone know more about their staffing levels? They say its demand, FWIW Put it this way let’s say you have 20 metro captains and you can make $xxxx per hour flyi...

Re: Westjet cancelling flights due to cold in Calgary
I’d imagine the OHSA rules around those temperatures require quite a few warm up breaks compared to working the ramp for a northern airline with Inuit working in Rankin that prefer the cold. I remember a day in the arctic that hit close to +20 and all the ramp guys struggled with the heat meanwhile ...
