Re: Claiming EI While on Training
Other options are Student loans and Life long saving plan. I used this approach to fund my training and was able to borrow tax free from my RRSP.

Re: YYZ Guys
Departing from the south runway make you a non-conformer and as such you will need to cross the departure path of traffic departing RWY 23. Your parallel traffic will be stopped at 3000' as well and this allows the departure controller the ability to assess the traffic situation and potentially turn...

A word to all of you hopefuls. You never know who is reading these forums. I'd caution you to conduct yourself here the same as if you were in the job interview cause as Crazy Horse says, you may not make it far. You might be insulting your OJI or maybe his best friend.

134.17 is used by ILS Monitor. It is used when there are parallel approaches in IMC conditions.
Inner/Outer and North/South are 2 different operations used to divide workload dependant on runway configuration, staffing, etc.

Re: Cleared Direct To?
Honestly, even if it's in MANOPS I have never heard anyone I work with use "present position direct" and inversely have never seen a pilot not go direct present position to the point he is instructed to go too...but maybe that's just here! Funny, just this week I worked a piston aircraft through te...

Re: Descent rates
Most controllers are familiar with typical aircraft performance and expect you to climb/descend at a rate that is normal for the aircraft type. We can accommodate a slow descent if you let us know early that you will require it.

Re: Cleared Direct To?
In terminal we often use direct to the DTW for sequencing and yes a few degrees can matter. Often you will be asked to hold your heading beyond the DTW to put you on a slant base to fit you into the sequence on final.

Re: Navcanada and age discrimination
Hopefully settle this once and for all. On my course in 2008 there were 12 trainees. 3 of us checked out. The youngest was almost 19 at time of training. The oldest (myself) was 37 at time of training and one other in the middle was 23 I think. Natural ability combined with good study habits and har...

Re: YEG IFR course
You forgot the aircraft type....
Unrecognizable.
Seriously though, this was overheard by a student in our generic course. We had a custom of writing all of the stupid/interesting "phraseology" over the course of the program on the whiteboard for all to see.
