Re: Leave to Appeal Application Filed at Supreme Court of Ca

As a new hire pilot at AC ... I would like to thank you on behalf of my wife and kids. So, you are pissed off because Air Canada now has been legally forced to comply with the same age restrictions that apply to all the other carriers in this country, such as WestJet and Jazz? And you didn't see th...

Re: New Contract thread

I think the avcanada folks should explain as to why it was taken down.... I am not one of the AvCanada "folks" but I will lay you dollars to donuts that the original thread was deleted because of abuse in the form of childish slander. The fact is, you don't have to be qualified or mature to obtain ...

...but Everyone left at the defunct Aveos are now left with nothing. Not everyone. To every generality there is an exception. The YEG ex-Aveos employees did not miss a day of work. Re-hired immediatly indirectly (soon to be directly) by the company for whom they are doing the majority of their work.

Re: Senior Pilots Bail Out...

Actually, it IS a big deal. I agree. It would be fairly easy for junior pilots to say, “Good riddance.” But a few minutes of reflection should give pause to that sentiment. What we are presented with here is an incredibly complex issue, especially for career-minded professionals. Those, including m...

Senior Pilots Bail Out...

One of my good friends, a senior Captain, just hung up his headset for the last time. He bailed so that he could lock in his pension under its existing terms. Two dark clouds of uncertainty put him over the edge, he says: the impending threat of CCAA, and the current unfavourable negotiation atmosph...

Re: Tribunal Reverses Thwaites Decision, Upholds Complaints

OK ACPA. Enough. It's over. Its time to mend the fences, do whatever it takes to get out of this travesty with dignity, stop dividing the troops, settle the outstanding issues, and move forward cohesively as one united group . Get with the program. Make all this sh*t go away. Bite the bullet, stop l...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS

Unnamed pilots receiving phone calls yesterday encouraging them to book off sick Friday. Some call management to advise them of the plot. Management writes ACPA expressing concern. ACPA this morning denies any knowledge, and issues a letter reminding members of their obligations under the law. Where...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS

It turns out, an attempt is being made to force the MEC to make a wholesale change of negotiation strategy, including abandoning its second negotiating committee and the current proposals. Interesting indeed.

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS

I don't think that that is the thrust of what is happening here. I look at the list of signatories and see they go right back to the founding fathers of ACPA, and include most of the key players since. Some 100 to 200 man-years of ACPA experience. The main thrust, as I see it, and this may be what M...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repealed!!!

So, ACPA has filed a Charter challenge? What section? Section 12?

Constitution Act, 1982
Canadian charter of rights and freedoms
12. Everyone has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.

Good luck. Mr. Harper is waiting to see you in court.

New MEC Chair?

Just received a copy of a letter to all Air Canada pilots concerning Permanent Managers.

It is signed, Captain Jean-Marc Bélanger, MEC Chair.

When did this happen? Is there a message in his election, given his posture as MEC Chair in 1998?

Since then we have been working with various committees to analyze the ...

The government changed the goal posts due to their apparent ponzi scheme known as the CPP, the junior pilots can fix it right now with this contract. How? Like they fixed the contract last year? Individual/worker rights are used as bum wad in executive washrooms and the chances of an undiluted victory of FP60 will rest largely with what deals get cut.
