Re: Layoffs

I have to say, well done ACPA and Air Canada. In a time where airlines are parking fleets and laying off anywhere from 85% to 100% of their pilots, some never to return, I would say that a layoff of around 13% at AC is very remarkable. There is no way we could have done this back in 2003 and I am in...

Re: Layoffs

Its' been a long time since I have read anything on this forum. Its unfortunate to see the mud slinging continues. Regardless of which airline you work for or which seat you sit in, or what your seniority number is, we are all in a real pickle. Realistically, there is a good chance that in the not s...

Re: New TA reached!

From the information feed to me, the underlying feeling from the exchanges is that the junior part of the barganing unit is trying, who is now in the majority, numbers wise, by any way possible, to pay back those that have been on the premises for more than a few years by taking away part of their ...

Junior Pilots, you have control!

This is my last post here on this site. The entire age 60 argument on here got way out of control and made it generally an unpleasant place to visit. With that being said and with many of the guys reading on here, I would like to say something to the more junior pilots. You guys have control and you...

If you are still losing money when the airplanes are over 85% full, all the time, the problem isn't with capacity.

Its nice knowing that my tax dollars are being spent to protect disadvantaged and discriminated groups such as: - visible minorities - people with physical and mental handicaps - people of different faiths/ethnicities/sexual orientations - airline captains who have been forced to stop working, and ...

Re: Porter CEO sues Air Canada over free travel

But sitting on the sidelines of both businesses, the perception (right or wrong) is that AC petulantly tried to take back their ball and go home since they lost on the Island......... ... I have no doubt that was a motivator for someone at AC taking a closer look and possibly monitoring Deluce's us...

Re: Porter CEO sues Air Canada over free travel

I don't think the lawsuit will be dismissed "rather quick"...he had the passes for 23 years and now suddenly Air Canada has a problem with it? If it makes anyone look desperate, it's Air Canada...I can see how it would stick in their throat providing free travel to the boss of their competitor, but...

Re: CHRT Remedy Ruling?

The leaders of ACPA have done a very good job selling this Age 60 stuff to the junior pilots. They all think they are going to be irreparably harmed if even one pilot goes past age 60. The fact is most of the junior pilots were hired in their 30's, and even early 40's, and will NEVER see a full pen...

Re: Boomerang 203

Boomerang used to be the call sign for Air 500 based at the North end of Pearson. They had Beech 18's a C-117 and an MU-2 in the 80's. Not sure if they are still around or not.

Re: Embraer reveals vision for single-pilot airliners

I find it absolutely Hilarious that Embraer of all companies has this vision. EMBRAER stands for E very M echanical B reakdown R equires A nother E lectrical R eset. I spent five years flying the 190 and I certainly would not trust Embraer with anything that didn't have two pilots and a team of engi...

Re: Nobody in Toronto Gets to Sleep During the G20

I can't figure out why they just can't float these clowns out to sea on a barge in the Gulf of Mexico and let them pretend to solve the worlds problems from there. Sure would save a lot of money and needless aggravation.

Re: Emirates out to hire 700 pilots over next 18 months . .

They must be doing something right? You guys need to research a little. Emirates pays zero dollars in corporate tax. They also advertise tax free salaries which are actually comparable to post tax salaries here, based on similar equipment. So they are basically saving the income tax paid by each an...

Re: TCU(towering cumulus) penetration from airlines perspect

Cmon guys. TCU to 13,000 feet? That is a fair weather day and great conditions for soaring. :D Seriously though, all joking aside, I think the question is a bit hard to answer because there are so many variables. What is the wx radar telling you? How does the development look? Is it a nice day or ar...

first of all, the slots belong to AC, not Jazz i predict that RD will sell PD to QK and keep the rest of the operation as he will be able to charge CO and AC high user fees a PD/QK merger would be DOH for pilots and include some flushing and bumping rights for a period of time Matted I think you ma...

Re: Service disruptions during Jazz strike

I once again applaud the pilots of Jazz for their conviction and the overwhelming mandate they gave their MEC to show that they mean business. ACPA in the meantime is closing their Wawcon survey and so far, less than 40% of the pilot group have even taken the time to respond. The pilots of Air Canad...

Re: Service disruptions during Jazz strike

mbav8r So Babybus and Jaques Strappe, what is it you're trying to say? It's hard to tell with written word, so I'm curious, is there a tone of resentment in there. It reads like, I used to fly to those places but then Jazz stole that flying from us. Or am I being too sensitive? Or are you looking fo...
