Re: E-Jets at air canada

What is left? AC is insolvent. What has happend thus far at the bargaining tables has not changed that reality. Unlikely that the resolution of the IAM or ACPA contracts will change that either. The degree of change that is required has thus far eluded the parties. Suggestions that reworked vendor ...

Re: E-Jets at air canada

Leading Edge, No it is not pilot salaries that are the issue at AC. I suggest you look up AMRs chapter 11 filing and why the court approved the filing with 4 billion in the bank. After that re read CR letter to employees about AMRs filing I suggest that you do a little research into CCAA and labour...

Re: E-Jets at air canada

This thread serves to remind all of us, as to why Pilots, and their Profession is in such a state... The opinions expressed here show fear, complete misunderstanding, and a serious overestimation of the impact of Pilot salaries on the bottom line. I especially like the providing your own DIP financi...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS

To anyone considering TA1... 30% of the fleet would be leaving for the LCC (Ultimately). In the end, this is a massive down bid. Take the time to think about where you will be forced reduced to in this scenario. The Co would have accelerated all aircraft to LCC, and ignored the contractual provision...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS

This is a last ditched attempt by a few senior guy's to save their pension at the expense of the rest of the Pilots... The same old sell the junior (in this case bottom 3/4's) guy down the road to save my pension BS. They should be ASHAMED. The current MEC got a 99% strike vote, that pretty much say...

Re: AC low cost carrier closer to becoming a reality

Fanblade is wrong on several counts. The original renegotiation of the contract was done outside of the normal, legally binding, process. TA1 was not recommended by ACPA. Because it was conceived outside of normal bargaining, it has no legal value. For the CIRB to impose a contract that was not reco...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repealed!!!

Its not that they have too much time, its because they don't have a life... Lotsa anti-union spin on this thread, kinda makes you wonder doesn't it. I am glad to see that the 60+ crowd is as arrogant as ever. For all the Junior guys, not every senior type wants this, remember to ask a few questions ...

Re: AC low cost carrier closer to becoming a reality

What are you so scared of?? No growth vs $hitty growth. Better yet sell out the bottom 2/3rd's to protect the top, thats what TA1 was really about. You seem to think that the Co can break the law. Sky regional will be shut down or there will be a negotiated settlement, but either way AC will pay. So...

Re: Dear what_the?

Take the good advice given above...go find one of those great foreign jobs before you get too bitter... You should go on the AC pilots forum. read the posts...the anger by the misguided 50 or 100 pilots (out of 3000) is fodder for a great sociological study in denial, anger, bitterness.... Your fat...

Re: Pilots contract

Leading Edge acpa needs to get control of this situation. acpa, needs all the pilots, under the same contract. I agree with you here. but the threat posed by a retired pilot is non existent, and for them to claim that it is, is really stretching it. Maybe ACPA should negotiate that all 60+ go to lo...

Re: Pilots contract

You know the problem with you guys, is you keep telling yourself how valuable you are, and how your "experience" is so important. But the reality is; for an employer, you are statistically a medical nightmare. Before you go on to tell me about how you still hold a Cat 1, there are all kinds of poten...

Re: Pilots contract

I have news for you, the last thing that any LCC will do is staff an airline with a bunch of ex-AC, bitter, twisted, Pilots, FA's, & MTC etc...

I can just imagine you pulling a CARS max duty day with only two Pilots at age 65... Good luck with that one.

Re: Pilots contract

As for retirements, they will continue, voluntary rather than mandatory, but they will still happen. Most are fed up before 60, and it will balance out after a short period of adjustment. Anyone who stays helps the Pension Deficit; this is good for everyone. And you make this statement based upon w...

Re: Pilots contract

If I was Junior at AC right now, I would leave for the sandbox ASAP... Yeah, who would want to stick around for 1000 retirements over the next 7 years and 787's arriving in 2 years. That would really suck. Well according to the fly till you die group, mandatory retirement is all but gone... So what...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repeal Passes 2nd Reading in Parlia

This is straight from the Canadian Human Rights Act, and explains how BFOR must be applied. "(2) For any practice mentioned in paragraph (1)(a) to be considered to be based on a bona fide occupational requirement and for any practice mentioned in paragraph (1)(g) to be considered to have a bona fid...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repeal Passes 2nd Reading in Parlia

Rockie.. How do you propose that the company accomodate older pilots on smaller aircraft? Any change to their status has been deemed by the FP60 crowd as discrimination. A few have proposed bottom of the list for those who stay, but that was also deemed discrimination. Are you now proposing that pi...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repeal Passes 2nd Reading in Parlia

But don't you still run into a problem when someone works past 65 because of the ICAO over under rule? as in up to a 65 limit no problem but if Capts become F/O's at 66 doesn't the undue hardship re appear based on sked problems due to 2 in the cockpit over 60? Not necessarily. The B777 has a large...

Handing 23,000 employees a paycut is really good for the economy. I guess the Harperites are hoping that Calin will spend his full $5MILLION BONUS...

What a bunch of idiots," you can force me back to work, but you can't force me to work". That will be the motto at AC from now on.

Re: BFOR

Rockie, All of ACPA's contracts have abided by the law of the time, they are vetted for that very thing. There are provisions and exemptions in the labour code that pertain to labour contracts. The current contract as of the recent ruling has been found to comply with the law, so it is legal and bin...
