Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun
Wow, I'm surprised they didn't think reverse thrust was a good idea for these machines. Reversers on turbofan engines are less effective at lower speeds, and seeing as the 146 was designed to land at fairly low speeds on short fields, they weren't seen as being much of a benefit. Instead, the main ...

Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun
I call BS on comment that only the last part of the runway was icy. I suspect the entire runway was icy, not treated or inspected by the airport operator. I suspect the RJ100 crew did not plan for an icy runway and tried to turn off on taxiway A with a lot of speed. Very likely true, but if you thi...

Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway
The NTSB preliminary report shows there were oil pressure warnings on both engines prior to the pilot's call to ATC about a dual power loss.

Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun
Scuttlebutt is the runway end was essentially 100% icy but the airport didn't seem to know about it so it was not reported to the crew.

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever but my brain goes straight to it being due to jet fuel in the tanks instead of avgas.

Re: Definite Stall/Spin Accident
IMO, this wasn't a takeoff accident, it was a loss of control during a go-around. Not enough forward pressure on the column to counteract the pitch up and flaps left at 30 degrees for too long.

Re: Your right to a review of a failed PPC is not extinguished by passing a subsequent PPC
That's interesting. Not that it should matter, but I'd be curious to know if the PPC was conducted by a TC inspector or was it a designated examiner? Having been indirectly involved in TATC cases a few times, I never ever heard anyone from TC say that a subsequent pass was grounds for dismissal. Giv...

Re: Twin Otter Crash May 20, 2023
The standards for the design of ferry fuel systems aren't exactly robust and there's a reason why most could never be certified for passenger operations. It's also possible that the system started out working just fine and then failed later on well past the PNR, similar to the PC12 crew that ditched...

Re: Mum Regrets not Getting Vaccinated
My rant for the day That’s all this is, and one that was completely devoid reason. If you want to be taken seriously, try growing up. Try realizing that your opinion is just that, an opinion. The facts are far from clear on either side and being entrenched on one side or the other and refusing to l...

Re: Authorized for emergency use?
So it’s fair to assume that those pilots who refuse to get vaccinated on the grounds that the vaccines are too new and in their mind, not fully worthy of being taken, are also pilots who never accept an aircraft as “airworthy” when there’s a MEL item in the logbook.

Re: Question about Company Vaccine Mandates
Be mindful of the fact that while you can obtain a medical exemption which will permit you to go to work for your company, you will not be able to travel as an airline passenger under that exemption, so if your job even occasionally requires you to travel by commercial airline - even on your own - y...

So who is the screeching idiot here? Dr Fauci has just been caught lying about the funding of Wuhan. The NIH has released documents that are undeniable. The house of cards begins to crumble. Keep on believing the MSM if that is what you think is right. But stop with the outrageous assaults on free ...

I also will not be vaccinated. The data is already out on mass clotting issues and permanent heart damage. Will only be time when you all lose your medicals. The way I figure it the vaxed have 6 months before they start dropping like flies. The ones left to keep flying will need to take some anti c...

Except if you happen to have an agenda, such as the government of Canada. Conspiracy theorists lack critical thinking skills. Surprised they needed a study to determine that. https://thenewdaily.com.au/life/science/2021/07/25/conspiracy-theorists-lack-critical-thinking/?fbclid=IwAR0yaIaNUW5vg9fByGa...

A fact is information minus emotion.
An opinion is information plus experience.
Ignorance is an opinion without information.
And stupidity is an opinion that ignores facts.

Someone I know in the ATC world confirmed Jacksonville Center did a big walkout the other night over the forced vaccination mandates. Why post stuff that is so easily debunked? https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/duval-county/flight-delays-blamed-limited-staffing-jacksonville-air-traffic-contr...
