Year 4 NB capt $280k + pension + per diem Share match $10k Junior reserve Flew 300 hours in 2025 Wait. You flew 300h and made $280K+ ? There is nothing unusual. He flew 300 hours but the MMG is certainly more than that. If the MMG is 1000 hrs that's 280$ per hour of credit. It could be a AC guy on ...

It is not a rumor. Management said no hiring no upgrade for 2026.
It's the latest anyway.

Re: US Air Travel Down, Overall Air Travel Up.
Old Boomer here….. Can someone give me a reasonable explanation with examples why I had it so good in the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Honestly I would like to know and understand where I f*cked up during those far back decades and how my f*ckup led to the detriment of the younger named generation group. J...

Re: Bad training experience has made me question finishing
I can tell you that I'm in a very similar position. I started my PPL in late 2018 and am currently at a little over 300 hours with multi IFR and nearly done my CPL after spending over $100,000. I was also kicked out of a flight school. Stopped flying for a year because of a layoff during the pandem...

Re: Aged WestJet pilots win right to not retire
If you're senior enough under 65, you can bid reserve and list yourself last out. You will have the same result. Also, I am sure that all the guys very vocal about this issue would just quit to leave the place to the younger pilots just because they don't want them to wait more for the upgrade. The...

Re: Aged WestJet pilots win right to not retire
You're forgetting about the 1+ ex wives on payroll Is it not possible to imagine maybe through circumstances maybe they actually can’t afford to retire. I know a guy working past 65 because he was scammed through an investment opportunity, lost most of his savings and still has a mortgage and barel...

300k after taxes and everything else looks more like 150k.
A million dollar home mortgage would be roughly 4000 a month.so 48k a year. So 300k for a million home is doable but it is not that great.

Re: Moving back home
How could you be so sure of that ?
Right now it seems it takes about 10 years to get a left seat at WJ.
It is not great of course, but for a young pilot, career wise, it could be worth it.

Re: Where did the resume redux post go?
Nice blog ! One comment on the statement that one doesn't need to state the obvious as holding a medical etc... Although it is obvious that a job seeker would hold one, I am wondering what would happen if the resumes are scanned by a software checking the Key words. In some job ads you can read that...

Those positions were supposed to be filled with the reduction bid.
I guess, lots of pilots prefered to quit.

Best Time to put the off time in the logbook is right after the positive rate call. This way you are sure to have the accurate time since sometimes the FMC is not accurate.

Guys in interviews usually don't say anything bad about your choices. They collect infos and make decisions afterward.
They can sound very nice in order to know you.

Re: multi IFR training tips? Plus career fit questions
"Chair flying", where you sit and visualize every maneuver and practice them over and over again will help a ton. Pretend to fly a circuit, then review the engine failure procedure, then review the emergency gear extension, etc... It gets easier the more you do it. I used to also draw out each proc...
