Re: Starting the Confederation College Aviation program this fall, should I get my RPP this summer to prepare?
Confed alumni here... Doing an intro flight on a Cessna and maybe a lesson or two would be helpful. Get that PTR going and some familiarity with how flight training works. An online ground school would be a great pre-study to get you a leg up and find out your strengths and weaknesses. I came in wit...

Sunwest YYC
Saw Sunwest is looking for pilots again. Specifically the LR45. I worked there back in the day at the old hangar.
Curious if anyone has any current info available ? I have an idea what it was like from a decade ago , wondering if anything has changed. Schedule, pay, etc, the usual.

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
What you guys forget is that both companies are growing and soon to be actively hiring again. Both were actively hiring prior to the pandemic. Ratios for date of hire don't necessarily get enacted just because of the size of the company being bought out. WestJet has 150 airplanes and needs X number...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
… this is a much better deal for WestJet and for Sunwing's ownership group (Hunters seem very pleased at becoming shareholders in the WS group of companies) than it is for the Sunwing pilot group, who have the most to lose in this proposed merger.
Agreed 100%.

Re: Air Sprint Questions
AirSprint folks thanks for your openness and transparency on this forum and in general with your pilot guide. I noticed the latest ad is looking for Embraer captains as well. Is this position typically filled internally with FO upgrades? Are you likely to hire from the outside if a qualified individ...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
For those of you still waiting for a call or thinking of applying, today the company announced that they are opening Vancouver and Quebec City as full-time permanent bases, with the expectation that Calgary will become a permanent base late next year. This would leave Winnipeg as the only remaining...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Bit of both. As mentioned above the entire fleet will someday be replaced by Max's. Good luck on the interview. Best place I have ever worked for lifestyle. Would you think swg is better then AC? It depends. With a bit of seniority and depending of your family lifestyle it can certainly be as good ...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)
Reading the cadors it looks like JRCC Trenton, at 1620Z, confirmed the plane crashed. Not that the plane crashed at 1620. The CADOR gives a detailed lat long of the accident site, which I assume comes from GPS at the scene. The location, if it correct, is not lined up with any approach, but 2.1 mil...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (5 dead)
With regards to no RNAV approach at KQ3...I was notified a few weeks ago that North Spirit is scheduled to get an approach in the CAP by April of this year. This leaves only a small handful of strips in NWO without a functional approach. As for the medevac flight that brought out the survivor, it wa...

Re: The Roll Call
I have to say that my first 2 instructors on my PPL were the best! Both Mel Laidlaw and John Nagy at Sudbury Aviation were excellent career type instructors and were awesome. It was great to do my first solo on skis and then do it over again a month later on floats!! Glad to hear someone mention Jo...

Re: PORTER Interview ?
Just wondering if anyone who interviewed in November has heard back from Porter?
It's been over a month since the interview for me and no word...
Also, I'm curious as to what kind of experience most of the recent FO candidates have?
Cheers

Re: What amount of money would bring you to a reserve to fly
The year was 2010...DHC2 based in Northern ON. $4500/month, room + food included, internet/satellite tv, 3 weeks on 1 week off, plus a cash "bonus" at the end of the season for actually doing it. Would I do it again? Probably not, but I suppose I can tell my grand kids that I did it...
