Re: Porter Problems

Heard from an FA that the company reduced the benefits while increasing the rates? Rumour is they’re trying to get around the retention bonus that was supposed to have been paid? I really hope the retention bonus part isn’t true. I’m sure a lot of people were holding from other pastures for that pay...

Re: Porter Problems

I was there for the first union drive that was turned down. ALPA WOULDNT HAVE SAVED THEM. But it sure would have put its pilots in a better position than they’re in now.

Family business trying to run an airline.

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?

Again vote Scope away for a few buck if you sleep better. Ripple, Flat payer here- hard to go convey tone, so I wanna make clear I’m not stoking your fire. But help me see it the way you do - Spell it out for me. My understanding of MOU2 is that the scope/JV lets are for 6 months, after that we go ...

Re: Did ACPA MEC vote themselves a raise while others are laid-off?

For a good number of pilots, this is the first time they’ve seen ACPA handle a crisis.

And ACPA has failed the Litmus Test, spectacularly.

Re: Public Education on Poor Pilot Wage and Work Conditions in Canada

I hear ya. How much money do you need? If you can’t be happy with 100k/year, then maybe money isn’t the problem. I’ve lived in the highest priced city for about 7 years without breaking 60k. I’ve absolutely mismanaged my career, chasing fun jobs and “settling” when I should have been looking to move...

Re: Public Education on Poor Pilot Wage and Work Conditions in Canada

I was curious if there has existed a program or push to educate the traveling public on how poorly pilots in Canada are treated by companies, regarding wage and work conditions, considering the amount of responsibility we have? I was once of this mindset. There’s good jobs out there, put your time ...

Personally I'd trade having it for two weeks rather than lose my house.

Just my opinion though.

Re: Future of Canada's Airline Industry

But to go back to the OP, the above examples are rare-a lot of pilots do not have this type of pay or luxury schedule, especially for the first five or so years after starting to work as a pilot. And if most pilots did have that lifestyle, there certainly wouldn’t be a shortage. Don’t compare yours...

I know a skipper that used to work there. He said they had to send an email every time they started the APU and explain why it was required. And if they were sitting on the ground for less than a certain amount of time it wasn't acceptable to turn on the APU for bleed air. Could be lies, could be o...

Re: Air Canada Outbid

Here's hoping shareholder greed prevails.

TS pilots keep their company and schedules.
TS management and office staff keep their jobs.
AC pilots maintain their career progression.
Shareholders get the one thing that matters to them.
Legault keeps his legacy.
Onex is kept out.

I suspect Transat was part of the Onex/WestJet plan and that's got completely ruined. I wonder if Onex will pull out of the deal now. Might see a WJ/Onex counter offer yet. Ps - what happened to the CP?
