Re: Low time pilot opportunities abroad
One can even buy a type rating ( Im sure a few old school types will be on my case for that suggestion) BUT it is what most pilots (europe) if not all pilots do once they get their license. They pay for a type rating on a Dash8 or 737 or airbus... In Canada we are a bit behind the times when it com...

Re: Sunwing fleet and pilot rosters for the 2015/2015 season
Life at Sunwing is a great job. Awesome people to work with, a great schedule, and the money is good too. As for the change with the TFW situation it hasn't had any positive impact on Sunwing pilots that I have seen. Our relative seniority has gone down due to 2 separate lists and pilots have been d...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool
loopa I don't want to rain on your parade as you seem like you have signed up as a hardcore west jetter who greatly agrees with the decisions from management, but perhaps you might want to excercise some discretion. Westjet is not all rainbows and sunshine. Being in the pool is far from being an emp...

Re: Ice Pilots Back
Anybody last night episode. Blistering winds and ice. Joe takes off. Is that legal? I guess i'm a chicken pilot I would have stayed o the ground, freezing ice and snow? Also poor rampie, the wolves are out. Great camaraderie in aviation now If you are a commercial pilot and wouldn't fly in those co...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
Q. How many WestJet "mainline" pilots put themselves into debt to join this team? Q. Has it paid off? Further Q. How much more debt would be incured at Encore as opposed to WestJet "mainline" or Jazz or Air Canada? The story of those who joined Westjet and the results they had wont mean a thing whe...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
Good God.
Looks like my family and I truly dodged a bullet when I passed on this job. Why would anyone put themselves in debt to be part of this team.

Re: Horribly sad
Sad indeed, such a waste of a good twin Comanche. I would never want to sit in the cockpit with someone who holds such a disgusting attitude towards human life. I would be very curious to find out who you might be to ensure you never get hired anywhere I work. My Condolences to all the families.

Commuting out of YYC?
Hi All
I was wondering what the commute (quality of life) would be like working for AC commuting out of Calgary. Is it possible to bid flights in and out of YYC or would I be looking at spending a good chunk of my time at a crash pad in Toronto. Thanks in advance for any info

Re: Looking for Advice - I want to Fly for a Living
Re: time on floats- How is it a waste? Unless your dropping meat bombs or working a ramp, many first jobs are on a camp's C180 or the like. It's just helping your odds. I have seen first hand people picked for a job because of the CPL hours done on floats, over people with the same 250 hr TT and mi...

I think you guys have your strategy all wrong. Poster are suggesting no one send them a resume. I beg to differ. We should all send them a resume. Then we take turns telling them to pound sand when they call. Now that is a great idea! I am sending in my resume tomorrow. I actually laughed out loud ...

Nice Towns/Cities in BC to raise a family?
Hey All I am looking at picking up, moving with the lady and starting a family on the West Coast. I have come to the realization that I won't be chasing the heavy iron at all costs, instead I just want a great lifestyle which my flying job can support. I refuse to let my quality of life be directly ...
