Re: Companies not paying Stat Holiday Pay

A number of years back Air Tindi was refusing to pay stats or give days in lou to any pilots. All other employees received stats. Problem was most of the pilots were more than happy to just take it. One phone call to Labour Relations and by the end of the week we were all receiving 9 extra days to b...

Re: Westjet strands flyers in Moncton during March break

Never said there was open seats... I said they were still selling seats. Big difference! Infact the flights were ALL already over sold, (if you are an employee you can see the loads) but you could still buy a ticket online if you were willing to spend that much. Still dont see how we can expect the ...

Re: Westjet strands flyers in Moncton during March break

there is this site... www.aircanada.ca check it out, you can buy tickets on AC. Aroundthewing maybe you should reread. I think my post makes it clear there is no story be it AC, WJ, or any other airline for that matter. Flights get cancelled for many reasons, dont like it take the bus or drive.

Re: Westjet strands flyers in Moncton during March break

Come on, there is no story here. Just poor reporting. You would think that you pilots would know better than to just be looking at wx in yqm. Maybe the plane was caught in wx else where and never made it to yyz to operate the flight. Flyer you work for Jazz right? We also have many cancelled flights...

Re: Help from any Jazz pilots

EFB's will save fuel, but AC pays for all the fuel.... So Jazz is asking AC to buy the Ipads for them. Chances of Jazz get EFB's? Not good I think.

Re: Any hiring news?

There is going to be almost constant hiring at Jazz going forward. There is a steady stream of guys leaving every month, and this isnt going to change until AC, WJ, and Encore stop hiring. I saw a number of names on the latest bid from yesterday that have already said they are leaving. The plus side...

Pilot Agreement

Isn't it contract year for the pilots at WestJet? Interested to see how it goes in the current climate that seems to be a downward pressure on wages and working conditions. What are the pilots looking for? Are you guys hoping for raises or better working conditions, maybe both?

Your internal reference submit a referal through the internal westjet site on your behalf.

What seems strange to me is that you have 12 references and you are asking this online???

Re: Encore WACON released and surprise, it sucks

So what does "date of hire flow through" mean? Say you are a 5 year Encore captain, and in that 5 years they hire 200 guys off the street for WestJet. Are you behind these guys for an upgrade at WestJet or is your upgrade at WestJet based on your Encore date of hire? What about pay? You are making c...

Re: Oh the sky keeps falling......

Fish if you want to compare apples to apples you are looking for the Q400 rate not the Dash 8 rate. Somebody might be able to find it, however there is a lot more to compare than just rates. You would have to look at total compensation. Pay, penion ( or no penion), stock options, weeks of vacation, ...

I heard one of the reason it took so long to get flica was that they built seniority into it.
If its true all I can say is how greedy can you be... I though this was a shift trade program, not another crack at getting all the good flying!

I was told by a current WJ pilot that there is only 12 upgrades in 2012. Can anyone confirm? If this is true and after 5 years you still have 150 ahead of you it is looking like a very long wait unless there is a lot of growth in the next 10 years. It is also my understanding that the pilot group is...

Anyone want to take a guess at the current time to upgrade for a new hire right now? I know they used to say 10-12 years, but with the focus on the regional for the next few years atleast, is it going to be more like 15... maybe more? More and more guys seem to want to stay longer now... a current J...

Why would they hire line pilots when there is a endless supply of Jazz captains who are more than willing to work for $500 a day. Suncor doesn't have to pay training, vac, sick time, benefits, etc, etc. Hard to blame them.... Pilots really seem not to be all that smart sometimes... Every man for him...

How many week of vacation a year do you max out with at WestJet?

The one thing I hear at Jazz all the time is "they work a lot harder at westjet", not sure that is true, just what I hear said a lot.

Re: So any guesses as to when hiring will resume?

Isn't this almost exactly where we were last Sept after the Aug bid? Roughly 40 new hires required, and that is after hiring 100 or since then. Its my understanding that AC is just starting to get going on there hiring, so I would guess that we will see a lot more hiring in 2012. We are losing guys ...
