Re: Apprentice
Hey guys, I'm about to finish up my course as an ame-e here in a few months and was wondering if anybody has any advice to offer towards companies/jobs for an apprentice? I'm mainly concerned in going up north but obviously I am willing to work anywhere. On that note, I've been researching overseas...

Re: Avionics Apprentice
Well, from the Caw handbook for jazz. A zero time apprentice make $15.26/hr And from my experience in Calgary $15 was the start for a zero time apprentice. My recommendation would be in the $11-13 range for Ontario, As I know the western provinces always pay higher. But you also may need to factor ...

Re: To be an AME? I am scared
I was about to make up my mind to take a training course which is leading to a technician certificate on AME-s. However, after reading first two sticking posts I found out it is really a tough job. I don't mind to start at $14/hr. But no chance to get rid of night shifts in 10 long years really sho...

Crash in CYBW
I was told by a family member there was an accident in CYBW. Would anyone care to shed some light on this? If anything of that nature occurred at all that is.

Re: Future AME Discouraged
I am an AME. I own my own home and drive a nice truck. I have a beautiful wife and a baby on the way. I have had a love for airplanes ever since my father took me to the abbotsford airshow when I was 5 years old. I fly airplanes as well as fix them. I'm happy with life. ...and what has that got to ...

Meet the Kenyan man who built an airplane in his front yard
Gabriel Nderitu, an I.T. specialist in Kenya, spent six months researching aircraft on the Internet and a year building this airplane in his front yard. However, his dream of flying may be grounded thanks to Kenyan authorities. When asked why he's doing it, the 42-year-old Nderitu cites a boyhood i...

Re: What it's like to be an Air Traffic Controller
Pilots don't understand us or even listen sometimes, but they rely on us to save their asses when they need us and will probably never say thank you. Sorry pal, but I rely on my own situational awareness and TCAS/GPWS to save my ass... I would never put 100% trust in ATC . ATC is great at improving...

Re: "No phone calls please!"
As the guy who wound up answering the phone at our shop through my apprenticeship, I actually sympathize with the employers. I would rather read through a resume and answer any questions in a cover letter or during an interview than stop what I'm doing and risk pissing off a PAYING customer just to...

Deicer boot removal
I spent 6hrs+ today attempting to remove adhesive bonding with a plastic scraper from the leading edge of a Kingair 200 after the deicer boot was removed. Is there any products out there that ease the job besides MEK or does that just happen to be the nature of it? I was told a gasket remover spray ...

Any company who would put a 250 hour pilot into a 1900, is doing a disservice to their passengers. Please supply the name of the company you use as an example. Some of our family members would like to take alternate means of transportation. :bear: :bear: Judging by how this message board works, are...

Maybe you should try telling that to IMP Aerospace. I was denied employment because I wasn't born in Canada.helicopterray wrote: And just because he was born in a certain country does not automatically make him a terrorist.

I got my pliers from my Mac Tools dealer. However, you do not need to buy them from a Snap-On/Mac Tools distributor.

Re: "No Holds Barred" opinion on my resume
There are many different ways to do a resume and a cover letter, but what has worked for me is a cover letter that I wrote personally for each application. Some places are interested in your school grades but don't flaunt it. If it says on your diploma that you graduated with acedemic honours then ...
