Re: ATF Procedures
I do see some operators will turn at 500ft and the odd ones that will turn at a 1000ft en route. I say the odd ones because i don't see too many other operators that actually turn at a 1000ft. we personally turn at a 1000ft departing enroute. no requirements to do so but as mentioned, AIM is suggest...

Re: performance questions on lear60
yes that is burn, for both low cruise and norm cruise
I do realize the fuel burn for weight restriction to allow to get higher, but strictly speaking speed limit only.
are you confirming that MMO is .81?

performance questions on lear60
for the guys and gals that fly the lear60 and or XR, is max cruise M.81 ? is .81 the norm between 350 to 450 or do you find it more often then not when above fl 410 you are in the 0.77 to 0.79 range? I understand depending on the flight and or range, weight of the a/c to allow it to get up above 450...

Re: Policy on flying 3 days a month outside of jazz
Thank you very much for the reply and sharing the information. very much appreciated.
I had the feeling it would be almost forbidden but sounds like as long as you follow the guidelines and obviously get approval then it should be ok.

Re: Policy on flying 3 days a month outside of jazz
I never claimed anywhere in my post that I was a Jazz employee.
which is the reason why I am asking, If I had access to the information I would have been more than happy to look it up myself.
anyhow,
maybe it is some sort of a big secret, non the less I will find out soon enough.

Policy on flying 3 days a month outside of jazz
Just wondering if you guys are aware of the Jazz policy on flying 3 or so days a month, outside of jazz. Is it something that the C.P has approved in the past or is it set in stone no flying out side of the Jazz scope. I know It would depend on a lot of factors with how much credit hours you have fo...

would the owner of the jet agree to sign a conditional bond to the pilot in the event the owner decides to lay off the pilot for one reason or another, that the owner would pay the pilot 6 months pay.? this bond thing could be negotiated and could also go both ways. it could also turn the tables on ...

The other day was coming out of Hamilton and filed the route that I have been getting for the past 4 years up towards the tbay area, and was surprised by a totally different clearance than filled with a replacement of three rnav waypoints before the ssm vor. every single time I have filed the pref r...

Re: Who use Foreflight to file IFR flight plans in Canada?
+1 for fltplan.com. I have been using it for almost 4 years now, both Canada and U.S. Not even one issue in 4 years. its free, but if you want to have an EPAIS account set up with them it will cost you . another neat tool is when you set up the flight plan it will give you the last 10 to 15 filed pl...

Re: Q400 performance figs
your T/O weight might be restricted for climb seg. Runway might be long enough for full weight up but your segment might restrict a lesser weight to meet the segments. all depends on obstacle. so if the 1400 m is ok you still need to check runway environment on dep end. clear way etc. I think for YT...

Re: new rules to overlay approaches ?
tferguson I understand the rules which applies to overlay very well, what can be and can not be done with a traditional navid that is an overlay with GNSS or GPS as mentioned in my post. my question was with regards to the change from an overlay up until recently to a non overlay on this publication...

new rules to overlay approaches ?
came across few different approaches that use to be overlay and now they no longer have the "GNSS" besides the approach identifier. I am still able to pull it off the data base in the box. example cyam up until the last CAP,VOR RWY 30 use to be an overlay off the ssm vor. it either had the "GPS" or ...

Re: TC Logbook Certification
It's a validation letter from the TC. You go in and ask for a License validation, Pay the $35.00 fee, and they tell you when to pick it up. In some cases they might be able to give you the letter same day. Most operator overseas require some sort of Validation besides your actual booklet. As mention...

I left instructing back in 2009 after instructing for almost 12 years. I must say, I really do miss it. It wasn't always happy times for me instructing but I truly did enjoy it. I actually do think about it often and if my boss would let me I would do it part time. I really never thought I would mis...

Very recently within the last few months, had the GP go on the approach, just prior to faf. Problem was, no GS flag was down, on either side, and we did have a capture initially. it all happened as we were coming up on FAF crossing. after cross checking the” FAF GP crossing altitude” and a quick cro...

Re: King Air Captain Daily Rate
This is exactly why I think its fare. 90 hours a year, meaning 1 to 2 trips a month maybe. Most folks that own an airplane they certainly do not fly 10 days a month, at least from my experience, in both north America and overseas as well. As for me imaging the rates, if you have any doubt send me a ...

I would say, hang in there, and do not consider a ramp job, at min wage, you are better off to go work at star-bucks making 15 per hour or more while you look for that next opportunity. At least you can make a little higher than min wage. As for working the ramp, don’t do it. I will make no further ...

They operate the PA 31 T/and the King Air 200 or 100 . 2 crew, They use to do a lot of MedEvac so for capts they required 2000 hrs TT 500 Multi PIC (100 on type) and an ATP for F/O, everyone wants to find someone that has time that is as close to a captain up grade as possible so your guess is as go...
