Re: Induction Maintenance

It's exactly that. Record upcoming inspections. Create a maintenance schedule for inspections and components coming due. Compliance with Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives. Calendar inspections for ELT's, fire extinguishers, other ops equipment. Ensure aircraft is equipped with items req...

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?

Where are all these 100k/140k a year jobs for m1 engineers? There is exactly 1 posted in the job ads section here and it's Inlands. That's a STARTING WAGE of roughly $52/hr if you're in the majors, thats pretty much where you will top out! I don't know of another small operator offering more right ...

Re: Who Funds Medevac flights?

[Everyone is entitled to the same level of care in this country, geographically that means aircraft are a necessity. What you mean, is what has become a very popular rallying call for socialism “everyone is entitled to the same outcome in life, regardless of ones choices” Look at the Soviet Union t...

Re: Who Funds Medevac flights?

Government pays for it. The similarity would be if you went to the hospital in a small town and they admitted you then realized they can’t treat you due to a lack of services then you would be transferred to the big city hospital by ambulance and you don’t pay for that ride as it’s covered by the g...

It is. Still being contested by some operators.

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?

This job does not 'pay like sh*t.' I've been in the industry 37 years. Getting paid exceptionally well by my current employer, and also by my the previous 3 employers going back over 10 years. I won't tell you my numbers because I signed an NDA. The companies I talk to regularly pay very well as wel...

I had a flight from Saskatoon to Edmonton last night. It was delayed an hour leaving, no explanation given. Problem is, I had connecting flights from Edmonton as did a few other passengers around me. The FA asked if passengers could remain seated at landing so we could try and make our connections. ...

Sad thing is, I'm making those numbers as a full time employee with all the benefits. Contractors should be making a lot more to cover employer taxes and deductions on top of employee deductions.

Re: The helicopter industry searches for the next generation

It is important to take care of the least fortunate in society. This is why in Canada we have made sure that minimum wage meets or exceeds inflation. Helicopter pilots are fairly compensated and no where near minimum wage. The focus should be bringing the bottom up. We don't work in a minimum wage ...

Urgently looking

I see there's a company urgently looking for an AME in the territories.
They're offering $50/day per diem, which if I recall when I did tours there 15 years ago, might just cover dinner if you skip breakfast and lunch.
That is not a current rate for per diem even in the south.

What is the average cost of catering for a government flight, over a 10 year average. What does it cost other governments for the same ...
