Re: NavCanada and GPS
RNAV mins are the same (or less). The non-rnav equipped aircraft may have higher approach mins after the BC removal at the airports I am thinking of.

It would be nice if NavCanada would develop an app for NAVCANplan.

Re: NavCanada and GPS
ILS replaced here this summer...appears we now have no back course and are still skipping signal off the snowbanks to the front course? GNT I fly to a few airports where the BC has disappeared over the past few years. I think it's one of those things that we are just a little bit more likely to scr...

I would think it would be as simple as a trip to your medical examiner. I had lasik, took my little form in saying what i had done etc, and restriction was removed.

While I agree that this punishment is extreme, It also shows how reliant on technology we are. I fly everyday using my little RMI and HSI tuned to traditional navaids... you can too!

[quote="=we defo need one to lower the prices in Canada! [/quote] All in the for the race to the bottom! I defiantly favour AC when it comes to traveling. Re: Assigning A Runway by FSS.
From my understanding (from what I hear as a pilot), FSS will use the term "preferred runway" when a runway is in-active but preferred due to wind etc. "Active Runway" is used when there is aircraft using said runway. In the ideal world, everyone would conform to existing traffic. I think it is just...

Re: Assigning A Runway by FSS.
100% agree Doc.
FSS generally serve the busier, but not busy enough airports. They still all have their time of day when things get packed. I can't understand what people think when they decide to land on runway 27 when everyone else is lined up to takeoff on 09. It's not all about you.

Re: 200/3,000/10
It is topics like this, that I really wish TC would use the same terminology throughout their publications. You really need to piece the information together. By clicking around to three different sections of the CAR's, I put all of this together. (b) operate an aircraft at an indicated airspeed of ...

200/3,000/10
I have read, and re-read the regulation and the definition of this rule but still fly with a variety of people who interpret this rule differently. "controlled aerodrome" - means an aerodrome at which an air traffic control unit is in operation; (aérodrome contrôlé) To me, this means, is there a "to...

Re: Can you file VFR flight plans online and if so, how ?
I tried the Nav Can online service. I find it quicker to call. I am always flying a different aircraft, for which all the fields have to be changed (or create a new template for each). It takes me 15 seconds to spit out a FP on the phone. Plus, I was kind of disappointed some of the features (as adv...

Re: Calm Air Layoffs?
Starting in the second quarter of 2012, Calm Air will no longer be providing regular chartered service to a significant mining customer who they serviced for the last few years. A combination of cost cutting and increased capacity will help to limit the impact of this customer loss in the short-ter...

Re: Calm Air Layoffs?
Perhaps it's to save a few bucks so the EIC boys can have a few more conferences in Vegas? A birdie told me that Perimeter Aviation is the only company actually printing money in the EIC group (airline side anyhow). Perhaps EIC wants Calm Air crewing to better compare to Perimeter. From what I have...

Re: Calm Air Layoffs?
EIC may just want them to "work harder". Calm Air has 18? aircraft and approx 110pilots? Bearskin has 16 aircraft and 75 pilots. Perimeter has 30+ aircraft and 110 pilots. Hmm. Great way to turn a 'destination' job into a stepping stone. Everyone I've ever met from Perimeter wants to get their time...

Re: Metro II/III Checklist
The nice thing about the metro is that they all fly different! You really have to get a feel for where your power is at on approach to see how it is going to land. Some will maintain a perfect approach decreasing towards vref at 800'lbs per side. Others will need 1200. Some will fall from the sky li...

From your other posts, I gather you work at Perimeter. Take 15 steps into the parts department and ask for a checklist... They even come laminated!
