Transport Canada wants to amend the definition of “ultra-light aeroplane” to clarify that an ultra-light aircraft is one that is registered as such." We want to bring to their attention the fact that aircraft meeting the design limitations of an ultra-light, if registered as a "amateur built, would ...

Re: Westland Lysander Down

Glad everyone is OK. Things could have been much worse! Thanks to the Ontario Government, all those useless wind turbines you see in the not too distant background would have certainly been a factor in the pilots decision of where to land, and what his approach path would have been. There is current...

Re: Small note in CFS gets overlooked

First time I ever went into ZAM was at night With no night rating (was doing my solo night X country). Maybe it's because I was flying a 172. Solo night cross country????? What flight school or instructor would let anyone do that? It is certainly not a requirement under CAR421.42 Please explain.

Re: Jack Ellard (Victoria BC)

I just found this post. I am sorry it took so long. I remember Jack as a fantastic pilot, a patient teacher, and above all, a true gentleman. Jack took me for my first aerobatic ride in a then almost new Cessna 152. I think it was in mid to late 70's as I was just a young boy at the time. I remember...

Re: Simulated cross country?

See ybwflyguy reply above. For some reason, new pilots are taught to do position reports every 5 miles or 30 seconds, whichever comes first! I guess it is in the interest of safety so that everyone knows where they are and what they are doing, but it sure makes the radio chatter busy. Around here th...

Re: Simulated cross country?

A simulated cross country is when you do all of the pre-planning for a cross country, Check weather, winds aloft, NOTAMS, FD's, weight and balance, etc. Also plot your course on a chart with drift lines, a start point (overhead or en route), midway point with times, and any other notable obstruction...

For Sale. Plantronics headset.

Plantronics MS50 T30-2 ultra lightweight headset. Perfect for light twin or corporate jet aircraft. I have had this headset for years and it has always worked 100% for me. I am not flying anything that I can use it in anymore so here is a great opportunity for someone who can use it to get it at a g...
