Re: Operating different machines.

Truck Drivers, one of my favorite topics of late. Ever since the Trucking industry got taken over by a group of a certain demographic, they have become the menace of the road. Humboldt as one small example, cut every corner to squeeze every penny of profit. And then hide the business under the umbre...

Re: DOH merge.

The GGN and Jazz merge isn't even close to the same thing. The contract as a whole, was to include 350+ pilots leaving to mainline before the end of the year and effectively seniority wasn't effected. GGN has something like 200 pilots. Without the GGN pilots there wouldn't have been the 60/90% flow...

Re: DOH merge.

Protecting the bottom of the list is tough, although I understand the concern. During the last mess, some of the most vocal were the hyper junior Pilots. So the question is, if you are measuring your Airline seniority in "months" rather than "years," who exactly do you think should be junior to you?...

Re: DOH merge.

Here we go with the revisionist history, Canadi>n was never bankrupt and we didn't get a 25% pay raise. Air Canada on the other hand did go bankrupt. If I earn $15 / hour at McDonalds and work 20 hours a week, then start working 30 hours a week I earn more money - but it is not a pay raise. Canadi>n...

Re: DOH merge.

I feel for the Transat Pilots, dealing with ACPA. You have nothing to worry about, it most definitely will not be BOTL (against the delusional thoughts of some.) However it also will not be DOH, my advice is keep your expectations in check. AC does not have a DOH list for you to merge into. AC is a ...

Re: DOH merge.

Although I agree with DOH as a principal, Transat will never get it. Canadi>n was a much closer "likes with likes" Airline to AC and were unable to attain DOH. It would take the top 330 Captain and give them a 50% + pay raise (777 Captain pay,) which is an easy argument for "windfall gains." Now the...

Re: Record revenues vs 4 year flat pay

Considering we are close to D.E.C. positions, I bet that Management wishes they were paying 100K to start. They could attract (home) some of highly experienced ex-Pats flying for Cathay and Emirates. The existing Pilot Shortage and more importantly experience shortage is keeping our Flt Ops Manageme...

Re: Record revenues vs 4 year flat pay

The piece you don't understand Schnitzel, is the low starting pay has nothing to do with Air Canada (The Corporation) and everything to do with ACPA. The company could care less if the 4000 Pilots were all paid exactly the same, all that matters to them is the cost of the entire Pilot payroll. It is...

I got a call last night from a young Pilot that I did some mentoring with, he has been with Jazz just under a year. I tried to read all I could on this TA, he sent me the gory details. My take (not that you asked, but I have done most jobs within the Pilots Association,) is the guy pulling the strin...

The EMJ Piece was childish, but took on a life of its own. It was targeted at a Little Brown Nosing Captain, trying to weasel ....HIM....self into management. Just happened to be an opportunistic Female F/O who Cashed in....and checked out.

Cash payout was always the end game, it was 5 years in the works. Waiting, gathering, timing the case.

This is an insult to any legitimate Harassment and does nothing for the cause of Female Pilots.

Re: Air Canada Wins CUPE Grievance re B2 Passes For Pilots

Fun discussion, pretty much sums up the philosophy WestJet used on start up. Pilots wore a casual Uniform, so they would not feel they were "better" than anyone else. It was felt by the Execs that the traditional Uniform, Hat and Tunic, would go to the Pilots head. The Pilots were also required to g...

Re: Air Canada Wins CUPE Grievance re B2 Passes For Pilots

Wrong assumption. I am a member of ACPA, not CUPE. And my point still stands. As employees entitled to the benefit of passes, yes, we are equal, or at least we should be equals. The more we are divided the less the strength of the group as a whole. Please don't tell me that the family of two-year R...

Re: Air Canada Wins CUPE Grievance re B2 Passes For Pilots

But perception is reality. Try coming back from Barbados, with 25-plus years of seniority, seeing your family seconded to a recent hire and his or her young family, and having to spend another two or three days waiting for an opening. The optics are not pretty. There is a view that management shoul...

Re: Air Canada Wins CUPE Grievance re B2 Passes For Pilots

CUPE are a bunch of Communist nut cases that believe being a FA at Air Canada should be equal to the Pilots. Factor in our Socialist Country and a Socialist Company and unfortunately they have become addicted to some success.

Or all those westjet pilots grooming the planes  +1 You can't get more unprofessional looking than a pilot wearing blue latex gloves taking snotty tissues out of a seat back. The CEO of Nav Canada earns 3.1 Million, along with a long list of overpaid executives. Controller salaries have quietly gone vertical over the last few years, largely due to overtime. If staffing levels ever got to where they should be, overtime would disappear. A friend of mine in VR Tower (VFR Co...

Jazz has been hiring 250 hour Pilots, right from College, for years. It would seem to me if you are now hiring 1000 hr guys - they should be considered High Timers. The industry is exploding for Pilots, enjoy the ride. Let's hope they open the border and all the young Pilots can apply to the US Majo...
