Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
"Aribitration" man you are a few light years ahead of yourself. The CIRB is not going to impose a ruling on the Air Canada Seniority List, you are dreaming in technicolor. Jazz was unable to fly their schedule pre-covid due to Pilot constraints, was that also Air Canada's fault? Post-covid and the m...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
AC cannot unilaterally change the Pilots Seniority list and a Grievance between ALPA Jazz and Jazz is absolutely not going to having any influence. Delusional thinking would be a compliment! If you think a Pilot is going to sit still and let someone (anyone) shuffle this list, without a fight, is na...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
There is only one way this grievance can be resolved, in order of importance. 1. Restitution of seniority for the 295 applicants that were qualified in 2022. Such restitution should be dated as of December 31st 2022 since there is no provisions to spread the 60% across the year, in order of Jazz se...

Re: That was a close one...
So we go from bashing AC pilots to bashing ATC? While GTAA and NavCan have their issues, lets deal with them in a constructive dialogue. It is pretty disrespectful to make wild accusations like that, it disrespects a lot of very competent professionals. I said; "organization" not the staff. Nav Cana...

CYYZ is a shameful place that I go to the ends of the earth to avoid. Putting a T7 on 24L (shortest runway at that Airport) is outrageous. The GTAA and Nav Canada, both highly incompetent organizations.

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Bede, that summation of the CAIL / AC merger is so full of inaccuracies it is laughable. I don't have the energy, or the GAFF to even start, but only one comment.
The first Arbitrated List was so flawed the CIRB had it thrown in the trash. A second Arbitrator was appointed and completely re-done.

Re: Timing the cycle
To think that "timing the cycle" isn't an issue, is simply naive. As great a job as the MEC (under ALPA) is doing, they would be well advised to get the process moving. Put the big ticket items on the table and see what the reaction is, we are delaying the inevitable. This could easily be a whole ne...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
I completely disagree Rudder, Arbitrators have the latitude to do whatever they like, once you hand over the process to them. The ALPA Merger Policy isn't worth the paper it is written on.
Remember there is three parties to this (and all) mergers, the two Pilot groups and the Employer.

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Reading this thread gives me PTSD. I remember the 28 year old A-310 Captain from Wardair, with 12 months service, demanding that he be a 767 Captain (which took 25 years) on the combined Seniority list at Canadi>n. And the snot nosed RJ FO at AC mouthing off that the 747-400 Captain from Canadi>n go...

Completely different but shows how difficult it is to get fired and have it stick. And yes he was on probation!
ALPA has no choice but represent him, or face a DFR case.

Re: What’s the over and under this dude keeps his job
Apparently he was still on probation so I’d say slim chances First Officer on the 787. So not even relief. How many hours did he have to get hired directly as an FO on 787 to still be on probation? To go direct onto the 787 as a F/O you require previous Jet time, likely flew one at Jazz. AC fired t...

Re: AC pilot slips through the vetting process
There is no choice, who would ever share a Flight Deck, FA's will exercise their "right to refuse dangerous work," and you can here the welcome on-board PA now and passengers running for the door.
Very unfortunate for a young Pilot.

Unfortunately all the info above is verified by union emails Company pressured 2 pilots to go to Europe despite contravention to the contract Company also gave away personal information to hackers making RAICs compromised 2 pilots to Europe? That’s terrible! How did I do it for 37 years? Snowflakes...

I bet over a career you will make way more with ATC than being a Pilot. A pretty sad commentary to what has happened to being a Professional Pilot in this country.
The Airlines overpay the unskilled labour and grossly underpay the skilled.

Re: Making 200k+ and going to AC for 55k?
The Airline would love to have you acornot, we have a serious experience vacuum. However, put me down for don't do it. The place has, sadly, turned quite toxic and we are in for years of labour stife. Every level of unskilled labour will be looking for double digit raises, even when they are on par ...

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?
I am well aware the history of the C2/C4 fight and firmly believe no Jazz Pilot should get on an AC Flight before an AC Pilot. AND vice versa.
How that got translated to Positive Space Deadheads is another story, Jazz Flight Ops Management (and ALPA) should have put a stop to the FA's getting J.

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?
RP position is not guaranteed J on a deadhead, which I'd imagine would be quite aggravating when you're getting sent over to Asia on a 12+hr flight. Yep, gotta luv it when all the Service Staff are in J and the Pilot is in a middle seat in the back. No other Airline on the planet upgrades FA's befo...
