Re: Airline pilot RTW after a long stop
I took 6 years off. Came back as a DEC on a small business jet, like riding a bike. I had close to 10,000TT when I stopped flying in 2018. Same boat as you, medical reasons. FYI if you think you can be fit again, start the process. Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medicine is absolutely, without ques...

That's neat. I'd be super pumped if I bought a plane ticket and ended up on a bus, more leg room and the drivers are likely more experienced.

Re: tablet on the CPL checkride?
Not one person here has mentioned that if avionics go on vacation on a vfr flight, you just hold your present heading until your eta...unless some big wind changes all will be well. Funny, no one mentioned that. But I guess that would require our testee to be able to hold a heading and work through...

Re: tablet on the CPL checkride?
So, you have your magenta line, in your boeing, and when you don't want to follow a magenta line, you can fly a J3 and use charts. Lucky you, to have the choice. What about those of us who just want to get from A to B as quickly and efficiently as possible, and don't have a Boeing in which to do it...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
So no 737 flown scheds were taken over by the Q400 ? 737 scheds were most certainly usurped by Encore. Passengers expect more frequency which the Q400 is great at providing. Once the '37's were relieved of the "milk runs" they were free to be placed on other more profitable routes. You will never m...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
Whats the difference between the Swoop pilots being OTS and the Encore pilots being OTS when Encore started? Encore also had the lowest Q400 wages in the country, but I don't remember if there was a big outcry from the mainline pilot group like there was for swoop.

Re: Love Flying, hate travelling
I've been instructing for little over a year and at the point where I can start applying for some 703/704 jobs. My hesitation is that I really love the flying part of the job, but when it comes to the down time during a layover I get really discouraged. I've never been the type who enjoys travellin...

Re: Best resource on airliner systems
You'll be flying a Q400, nice plane and not overly complex. www.smartcockpit.com has some useful manuals, but they're all the same manuals your airline will provide. For me technical information has always been nice to know. I like to have a basic understanding of the systems. I spend more time focu...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding passq
Try an experiment then. Tell your friends and co-workers to their face you think they lack integrity and professionism. Run inside the lounge and tell the manager you think he's running a second rate operation. Stand outside the lounge and tell anybody passing you in uniform they are abusing the sy...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass
I’ve been in this business a very long time just work, you’ll have to take my word for it that you are not capable of hurting my feelings. Your arrogance will not endear you to your co-workers but I’m guessing that’s not a concern of yours. You're right, it's not. Most of my co-workers and former c...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass
Maybe you were the stupid one to not take advantage of a good deal while it lasted justwork. Maybe you’re regretting it now that it’s over. Not at all, because as someone with a brain in my head I could see that this was clearly an abuse of that credit card to gain access to a second rate lounge. I...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass
They aren’t AMEX lounges Justwork, they are separate companies that AMEX pays a fee to when one of AMEX’s customers uses it. Those lounges and AMEX did honour that arrangement for crews for a long time whatever the written rule was. I didn’t know nor did I care that they would change their minds on...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass
So you honestly thought AMEX would be cool with the lounge being used as a crew lounge? Guys running in there to stuff their faces on a 30 minute turn. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to think “hey man, that can’t be right”. Oh wait no it can because they guys hawking the cards, who say anything ...

I get it Justwork, your shit doesn’t stink and you only eat at five star restaurants which is why you like airports so much. It's rather pungent actually, stings the nostrils. What I am saying is that you need to be a special kind of stupid to think this wasn't going to happen. Can you join a 24 ho...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass
What’s to debate? This card was hawked to crew for its lounge access and for a long time it served its purpose. The lounges decided to enforce the rule and now the card’s usefulness is greatly diminished so they won’t sell as many and current users will cancel and get a refund. Simple. But you can’...
