Re: Sky regional 2.0
If Jazz seriously wants to make it more desirable to hire maybe they should look at their asinine policy about a lottery during GS to decide what base and airplane equipment you will employed on. This is the reason I would NEVER leave a good job to go to an unknown and possibly impossible working en...

Re: Transat AT reaches $700-million aid deal with federal government
This is a post not from AC or TRZ (if that's the way your callsign goes). Let's look at the reality of the situation? The feds through out a lifeline, and that's it. Life as you knew it in the GOOD OLD DAYS ARE DONE! Senior TRZ pilots on the list are going to feel this big time. Juniors even worse. I...

Re: Transat AT reaches $700-million aid deal with federal government
I must say I believe this is good news. I hope this will help a lot of the employees, although I am sure major restructuring will happen. Although it does not affect me directly, indirectly I believe it is just another step towards our industry recovering and maintaining as many Canadian Pilot Jobs ...

Transat AT reaches $700-million aid deal with federal government
MONTREAL -- Travel company Transat AT Inc. says it has reached a deal with Ottawa to borrow up to $700 million. The money will come through the federal government's Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility, the same program used to help Air Canada. Transat says $390 million will be used to help s...

Re: "Three possible Transat suitors say they are not interested in acquiring struggling airline"
Agreed. I have told others when flying together you try and make the best choices with the circumstances and facts provided at the time. Then, when sitting in the rocking chair, looking at pictures of airplanes, only then can you say what worked and what didn't throughout your career. Better days ah...

Such a very true statement. And more importantly, why did I not do this? Sadly, I thought I was at the time. WRONG! Once again.JoeyBarton wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 8:27 pm you better make the right choice at age 30-35 with 3-5000h to be sure to be still around with the wage you deserve at age 55.

Re: "Three possible Transat suitors say they are not interested in acquiring struggling airline"
Air Canada already has quite a footprint in Europe with the International Travel. If they combined with Transat, this would have a VERY BIG footprint in Europe, especially if you consider the tour packages, hotels etc in Europe that Transat occupies. Then if you add the STAR Alliance factor that AC ...

Re: "Three possible Transat suitors say they are not interested in acquiring struggling airline"
I love reading all AC employees comment on the future of Transat. I didn’t know you were part of the board of directors... do you feel better now that you wrote that Transat might be going CCAA ? Wake me up in a couple of weeks/months and let’s see how many of you were totally off track ! Let me ju...

Re: Bankruptcy.
A good point. How do you play this one? 2 very big loans coming due for the company. As a very good smart business pilot ( which I pretend to be) all you can do is watch the outcome. sit and wait, or do you do something about it? I have friends at AT. I do not say this to be mean, only we are ALL vu...

Re: Bankruptcy.
I sit here and watch, like a troll, but I will put another input, just because I enjoy it but also because I think it is useful. We are pilots. But not stupid business people. We are smart enough to figure out when we are getting smoked. In my past I got screwed at C3. I learned. But at Skyservice I...

Re: Bankruptcy.
How about this idea? ONEX Swoops in and buys AT at a firesale price. This could expand Westjet's European route structure and add to Westjet Vacations.
Both WJ and AT pilots are ALPA.
Just a thought.

Let’s all reflect on the username that started this post. I had a good laugh at this one. Thank you. I will be honest when I say I have stirred the pot in the past just to see the discussion points with smart people that results in the disscussion. No foul there, in my opinion. Re: Sunwing Cancels All Flights Through June 23
I hope you are right. But I would not feel protected by vertically integrated. Look at Transat. Have you ever considered they could sever the airline from the tour operator to save costs? And I won't even mention your asinine training department that cost the tour operator very big bucks for no reas...

Re: Sunwing Cancels All Flights Through June 23
I will start by saying I have no vested interest in either party currently, but in the future who knows these days? I do not mean this in any negative way, only an observation from the cheap seats. Our industry is very raw meat right now, and there is a lot of play going on in boardrooms (with masks...

Re: Air Canada deal dead
It would be nice if our AC guys to show a little professional courtesy to our -brothers in arms- at TransAT, instead of trying to rub their faces in it. Like you, they have familys and financial obligations. This industry can be brutally hard on individuals and the ones they support and love. I wis...

Excellent analysis rudder. This is why we cannot stick our heads in the sand just hoping that we will be ok, as the world around us comes crashing in. It behooves us to monitor our position in the industry. Aviation in Canada currently is very volatile, and there will be a lot of changes coming up. ...

Zaibatsu, I like where this thought-process is going. Thank you. It is just business, and unfortunately, we as pilots go for the ride. But as smart pilots we should see the curve ball coming, if we can.

Re: Air Canada Revises the Terms of its Capacity Purchase Agreement with Chorus Aviation for Regional Flying
I went to Sky Regional because I had a lot of flying experience, resulting in Direct Entry Captian, I knew what airplane type I was going to fly, and what base I was going to be located. Therefore I made my decision Sky Regional or Jazz. Personally, I think before you leave a previous job and give n...
