Re: Does your IATRA expire after you're no longer current on a 2 crew aircraft.
Did you fly a bird that was 2 crew but certified for single pilot? or a type certified requiring 2 crew? IIRC if you fly a type that was certified requiring 2 crew within the 2 years after writing the IATRA then it doesn't become invalid. If you were 2 crew on a bird that was certified with 1 pilot,...

Re: Fastest Way to the Airlines
I think the fastest way to the airlines is, obviously, only work for large airlines. Only send your resume to places that fit your definition of a place you want to work. Do not apply to any floatplane companies. Do not apply to any charter companies with small planes. Only apply to companies that ...

You might not like this answer, and it is already stated a few times in the replies: Find any flying you can. Even a Day VFR single engine job fly charters, skeds or skydivers is a good start. Airline interviews will have lots of questions based on your previous experiences of flying, how you dealt ...

While we are up to outrageous conversion ideas, why not a V12 Merlin conversion for the chieftain? or TPE331 with AWI? I like your "dreamer spirit", but why upgrade something that is just waiting to become beer cans? Anything a Ho can do, a King air or Carrotvan can do better! Not cheaper mind ya. 4...

Re: Fast Air Medevac Crash Bloodvein last night - 2nd in 2016
Word on the street is the runway in ZTA has been Sh1te all year. Lots of loose, deep gravel, crappy runway maint (adding gravel, dragging it instead of packing it). Wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't get good enough acceleration and rejected. Can't imagine they went off the end very fast. Still ...

Can't really answer to the cost of install or difficulty. But I will say bubble windows are the way to go! Just a little more shoulder room and great vis!

There is a forum dedicated to these kind of questions?! I'm not saying you won't get your answer here. But Employment might be more prudent than General.

Well, I know they're becoming relatively junior as far as Metro Left seat goes. IIRC not too long ago they weren't upgrading good captain candidates ( or anyone really ) at any rate. They lost a lot of those senior guys and now barely have a pool to pull from. Hence the Metro posting. They certainly...

Come on guys! You don't need to make position reports every 5 minutes. THINK before you key that mic, nobody needs to hear you pontificate your position! All it takes is a few seconds to figure it out before you talk so you at least sound like you're somewhat competent. ALSO making animal noises, pl...

I will provide the best piece of advice I have been given. Even if I may not have always followed it (regretfully which makes ot good advice) GO WITH WHAT IS OFFERED Apply for everything. Re: Perimeter?
Thanks for the reply. But isn't it like that everywhere else? I mean, who else would hire a 200 hr pilot... There are a lot of places that won't, but a bunch that will. Mostly Day VFR gigs, a couple IFR gigs if you luck out. You'll probably have to go somewhere small/remote to get your first flying...

Re: Perimeter?
You're in luck! This is the universe subtly telling you to avoid the place! Even if your wait on the ramp would be the length they used to be (12-18 months) you would hate your life there. There's lots of quality folks working there, don't get me wrong. But morale is at what seems to be an all time ...

Re: Harv's. Which location?
St. Andrews all the way. The practice area isn't all that far away. 3 paved runways at CYAV, a grass strip 4 miles away at Oak Hammock, a gravel strip maybe 10 miles away at Selkirk and 11 miles away from CYWG. You get a good balance of a controlled airport, with several uncontrolled fields near by....

Pass on PAG. Rumour is ramp wait times are off the charts and there are reductions on the DH8 side (ie overstaffed on all types). Plus at least 50 hopefuls throwing bags and checking in chicken will be ahead of you on the list (unless the company decides they like you more than the next guy, then y...

Re: Plane lands during Interlake Dragway race
Having grown up 12 to the north of YGM, I have flown in and out of Gimli many times. Yes you can tell where the old runway is, but there is really no excuse to mistake the drag strip in its current state as a runway. It would be interesting to hear the pilot's side of the story!
