Looks like we all know what AC pilots want. What about corporate, WestJet, Swoop and transat

What should pilots do going forward?

So with Covid out of control In the US what should pilots do with expiring MOAs at major airlines and corporate jet companies? Is it better to let the companies cut pilot numbers to the minimum, or continue keeping maximum pilots on with reduced wages for another 6 months or a year? I have had many ...

Re: Was one list a good idea

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t WestJet have to go from the bottom up for layoffs? Regardless of swoop encore or mainline? So they can’t target mainline pilots?
But if 100-200 pilots get layed off won’t that shut swoop down, because all the swoop pilots are new?

Re: One List

Well from what I am seeing not having the one list will defiantly hurt a mainline pilots career, and here is how. Swoop just signed a deal with Sunwing, this is a trial for whats to come, Swoop seemingly wants all of Sunwings pax so they won't have to hire a European charter outfit to come to Canada...

Re: Future of Canada's Airline Industry

This industry is 100% luck. Yeah sure buddy, I would say some people catch lucky breaks but I didn’t live in the middle of bumf*ck nowhere, clean mud and grease off airplane bellies, and freeze my f*cking ass off in pitch dark for some avcanada nobody like you to claim it’s “100% luck”. Go fly a ki...

Re: Future of Canada's Airline Industry

This industry is 100% luck. I know some top notch guys/gals who are struggling to find a Stable job while other losers are making 300k. Aviation is a risk to make the big bucks while going to school and becoming a DR., Engineer, Lawyer, has WAY more of a guarantee. This industry is going from a prof...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

How would they find a loophole? Wasn’t it part of the contract? We have a few items that are written clear as day that the Corp simply ignores or reads differently. Somebody at the crystal palace has decided to quite simply screw the pilots just a little more. They’re going to arbitration because o...

Re: Updates on one - list.

Agree with the above post! In 5 years mainline 737 fleet will be minimal and only 90% of the total pilots will remain at mainline. But on the bright side there will be 20 wide bodies doing 6 day parings!

Re: Future hiring

Well let’s hope swoop is not in those numbers! Currently 8 tails and can go to 30. Usually 13/14 crew per tail. Do the math that’s darn close to 300!

So 300 new hires at mainline? Or did he mean 300 at Swoop, Encore and Link?

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

Isn’t there a mandatory flow percentage per class that Westjet has to follow? If there is,and Westjet just chooses not to follow it, there should be money paid to the pilots who should have gone over to mainline. But I’m sure your new union is all over this? I don’t understand what you guys are doin...

Re: Updates on one - list.

Well Westjet MEC might have a mandate or a desire to renegotiate, but the company is different now and has new owners. Onex won’t want a integrated seniority list because it would make it harder to separate or sell off. Westjet MEC dropped the ball and this should Have been done in the first place! ...

Re: Updates on one - list.

What i meant by sold off is that westjet will sell it to some other company who will in turn have a CPA with westjet. Similar to The Link(pacific costal)agreement, or the jazz AC agreement. This will take the headache of Encore off WestJet’s plate so they can actually focus on 787 growth and not rec...

Re: Updates on one - list.

You are right JBI.. but things have changed and managements boss has changed... ONEX will for sure have Some input now and there is no way they would Want to integrate encore with WestJet. Why you ask..... well because Encore is a asset that can be sold at some point. So keeping it separate now make...

Re: Updates on one - list.

Is this the company’s fault or ALPAs? Wasn’t it westjet that didn’t want a true one list because of training costs in the event of lay-offs?Or was it ALPA that gave it up? My guess is that a true one list that the pilots want the company will resist so what does westjet do now?

Re: One list

Well sorry to hear the bad news encore pilots.. the good thing is there are plenty of jobs out there. I started in aviation 20 years ago and its never been a smooth ride. To the Westjet pilots all I can say is you can hang on to your jobs for dear life but layoffs are coming... The real damage will ...

Re: One list

well if I was Westjet management I would just laugh and let the pilots be pitted against one another! if the Westjet pilots think they are going to stick it to management by dividing the group they are frankly...a little crazy. union busting and negotiation 101 is divide then conquer and if the pilo...

Re: One list

Wow never would have thought pilots would vote against the one list! Jazz pilots would love to have the one list!
So what happens to the pilots who have flowed over the last 2 years? You guys really have created a mess over there! Good luck
