Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow

Management loves to say that but I know 3 guys who qualify under the 'blacklisting' but got into AC well before any of their senior Jazz friends did. Right on, if you can find out their Jazz DOH so we can advise the ppl keeping track of this that would be appreciated. First guy hired Spring 2019 an...

Lol. Does that mean that all their students fly 40 hours in actual IMC? Would be nice, but I highly doubt it....

It should be its own category. Quite tricky to stay 'eclipse current' though to fly with pax.

Re: T/O or Landing during Solar Eclipse

I think we'll need a new column in our logbooks "Time spent during solar eclipse". For safety, TC will then require all ATPL holders to have acquired at least 2 minutes of solar eclipse time.

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

The aircraft was diverted to another reserve due to low oil pressure. Work was done on it (in attempts) to rectify the problem and while it sat overnight in the cold she developed a hydraulic leak from an oleo seal. The oleo leak was fixed and required a gear swing to be signed off. At no point was...

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Yes, I remember this one. New captain, she had to ferry a plane back to Thompson due to gear issue. Lost an engine, and could have put gear up but elected not to (following the ferry permit). Allegedly exceeded limitations on the good engine. Lack of SOPs/CRM enroute. She came into YTH, wheels touc...

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Considering how many Metro's Perimeter / Bearskin has written off lately, I would say they are in the same boat as Skycare or worse. The Metro is job security for a Structures AME! You can't walk around one of these aircraft without finding fuel leaks and cracks!! They are a bit like the blackbird:...

Re: LOOKING FOR COMPANY TO GET PIC TIME FOR ATPL

Does your license say 'Airline Transport Pilot' on it, or does it say 'Commercial Pilot' ? You left a bit of gray back there… Assuming a CPL holder also has a valid IATRA then yes the candidate could potentially crew a 705 position. TPC Yes, they can crew the aircraft, but, that doesn't mean they h...

I second this. Laid back and very supportive group. Good place to learn and learn you will. Where else can you go left seat on a +12.5 machine at 800TT. Work 2-3 days a week and flying is never boring. Will probably miss it when I leave. This says all I need to know about a company, they would rath...

The only people that truly love metros are the accountants. The weight and volume those planes can move for their fuel burn is very impressive.

Re: Any plans for Socialized bidding?

I find it ironic that Porter pilots are extolling the virtue of seniority bidding, on the basis of a new hire getting the benefit of an expanding airline. This was the same argument that Flair pilots made during their growth phase, until it suddenly ground to a halt. Will Porter pilots still think ...

Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa

Of all the ways to crash an MU2 this is likely the most survivable. But what a shame. On the other hand I'm surprised it doesn't happen more frequently. We've had some close calls as well, and at some point you're completely depending on the report of a non-pilot airport employee, who may or may not...

Ground schools are full without you. You want to wait longer and have worse seniority? Cool. You want to stay where you are? Cool. Either way, the people that made the risky move of jumping to Porter early on in the Jet expansion also now are benefiting from their move and I very much doubt they wi...

As opposed to all the other pilots here who came intending to use Porter as a stepping stone but became enamored with the lifestyle and realized they don't need or want to be chase metal. I see. So the people who intended to use Porter as a stepping stone, but changed their mind, don't want to do t...
