I feel like this was an episode Mythbusters did... if not, it's equally as silly. Tailwinds make lower speeds a little squirrelly, yes. This has to be the first time anyone has ever complained Jazz taxis too slow. If your riding the brakes behind a Jazz aircraft you must be scaring the hell out of your passengers. Speaking (typing?) as a twenty-something who is employed by one of the airlines you mentioned, I am paired in sim with a fifty-something recent hire, so I definitely don't think age was your issue.
