Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
No doubt the loss of seniority was detrimental but It’s basically impossible to calculate the cost for loss of seniority. Individually no. An actuary coming up with a mean impact can absolutely be done. Just being one year behind on the pay scale for twelve years will add up significantly. Never mi...

Re: Is the ACPA Motto: "We will get'em next time" gone?
Serious question. So the BOD told management that the priority was to “ protect the summer.” Makes sense. So my question is, would it be possible for us to go on strike in June when we have the most financial leverage? My read of this mediation is the earliest we could strike is Aug. Is this the ca...

Re: Is the ACPA Motto: "We will get'em next time" gone?
I had an opportunity to read the documents, in particular the MOA. My surprise is not that the AC MEC agreed to this, but that AC did . The meeting schedule is extremely aggressive. AC will have several high level managers with a de facto full time commitment to the process for months (face-to-face...

Re: Is the ACPA Motto: "We will get'em next time" gone?
So the union is using the summer as leverage to bring in a mediator to force the company to negotiate? And then we can still strike this summer if the adult at the table sees the company continuing buffoonery? You got it. We get leverage to force negotiations that aren’t happening. AC avoids both a...

Re: Flair pilot program
Apes, Thanks for the reply. I am going to have to gamble with Flair, as their training location is a short drive for me, vs. Phoenix. Although I'm sitting here this morning looking at -17C thinking Phoenix is a better choice, I have a wife and kids I can't leave for that long. Your career changer r...

Re: So over at TransAt.......PAY ATTENTION!
We are treading down the same path of another much larger (now almost defunct airline) I worked for many years ago. There was a toxic culture very much the same as what I am seeing here. It ended up turning a great place to work with the best WACON in the world into a pile of steaming dung. Most of...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian
2003 AC 737 wages + inflation doesn't cut it. 2003 AC 737 wages were ZIP 737-200s, 118 PAX, ~52T MTOW 2023 AC 737 wages are Mainline 737 Max 8, 169 PAX, ~82T MTOW Same goes for 320 wages. 00-04 contract only mentions 319/320, Seating then maybe 130-140 pax. Whereas today most of the fleet are 196 p...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian
Statistically I suspect 20% of us will think the expectation or ask is underwhelming. 20% will think our expectations are unrealistically high. Accountant will fit in with this camp. :-D 60% will think the ask is appropriate Nope. I think more than you think will believe the expectations are unreal...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian
I agree there hasn't been any kind of clarity around what a world class contract looks like. With that said I think that will be defined by our MEC in the next little while. If you listen to podcast 4&5 the NC mentions releasing a document to the membership. I don't recall what they called it but if...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian
We are roughly 55%+- behind our 2002 wage package, and have given massive lets on our working conditions and Scope. The Corp pocketed all of it for 20+ years . Good for them, it's good business sense. They have benefited from our direct loss for decades now. It's time to play FAIR and PAY BACK a li...

Re: Wear your goddamn lanyard!
The point I was trying to make above is that your post misses one huge component which was NOT flushed. There remains a very significant influence related to the direction of these negotiations, an influence fully imported from the debacle that was ACPA. Its not pilot led, its the exact opposite. A...

Re: Wear your goddamn lanyard!
I hope Im mistaken. Really I hope I am. I am FULLY supporting the MEC, I just hope this time it is different. Thanks for supporting the MEC Aof1. I totally get the apprehension caused by the past. Wary as a result is natural. Keeping the MEC accountable is required. Questioning required. It’s all p...

Re: Wear your goddamn lanyard!
Spoken like a desperate union leader knowing he’s not getting what he’s hoping for… Out of curiosity, why are you on this site? It's an aviation forum primarily for pilots. What's the point of coming on here without sharing any common interests, purely to comment with the intent of pointlessly anta...

No way the pilots will ever vote yes. We'll be going to FOS. Bingo?????? Glass half full buddy. I’m gonna start calling you dark cloud. :D :D Hey maybe that is why you picked Bingo Fuel as your moniker. Take that as humour. Final Offer Selection is almost unheard of in union arbitration. It is mean...

Re: Timing the cycle
24% is not 55% If you get 55% I will send you a dinner. Myself and everyone would be shocked. It ain't happening. Calling it now. Maybe stop putting words in my mouth. Your the one spouting 55%. You've said 2003 to now. Which is essentially 55%. Not putting any words in your mouth. No I said 2003 i...

Re: Timing the cycle
Without the WJ deal, people like accountant would be screaming 2-3%. Now the new minimum expectation is 24% over 4 years. Even the AC CEO has publicly stated the WJ deal is within his expectations. 24% is not 55% If you get 55% I will send you a dinner. Myself and everyone would be shocked. It ain'...

Re: Timing the cycle
Thanks for the clarification Bingo. I agree this will be a fight. But also see a much more glass half full. I take comfort with what I see on the expectations front from outside the pilot group. In fact it is quite remarkable. The minimum people. Without the WJ deal, people like accountant would be ...

Re: Timing the cycle
The decision to accept a deal or strike will be data driven and not JMO. I can’t see AC pilot support for anything less than 2003 inflation adjusted to today. ( minimum) Why would we be worth less than 20 years ago? Makes no sense. But I’m making an educated guess. I haven’t obviously seen the poll...

Re: Timing the cycle
WJ rates plus 10-15% You are entering the ball park of 2003 wages adjusted for inflation. 15-20% above WJ would return the AC 737 CA wage to 2003 inflation adjusted to today. I used a specific position only because they are all different. That wage increase would be just shy of US 737 CA wages with...
