Survey - GTA Advanced Ultralight
The first thing they tell you when you want to start a business is: “Find out what people want, learn to know your market!” Well, here goes… As mentioned earlier, I’m considering investing into an advanced ultralight aircraft and base it somewhere in the GTA. This aircraft would be used for training...

@ albertdesalvo Here's Brafdord International for you: http://archive.copanational.org/PlacesToFly/airport_view.php?pr_id=1&ap_id=880 @Lotro I agree with the scary connotation, but it's only an image and not reality since a well maintained advanced ultralight (AULA) is as fun and safe to fly as a ce...

Re: Advanced Ultralight Instruction and Rental in GTA?
Attending the annual meeting of UPAC was high on my priority list for a while, sure thing! Thanks for the details! It’s true what you say about a lot of Ultralight operations being a one-man/airplane operation, run as a side-business. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s actually the very...

@ Beefitarian Thanks for your honest answer.

Re: Advanced Ultralight Instruction and Rental in GTA?
All very nice airplanes, but my original question was not so much about types, makes or models
My main concern still is: will there be enough interested pilots to rent a nice AULA in the GTA?
Cheers

Re: Advanced Ultralight Instruction and Rental in GTA?
A new Savage will set you back about 75k, depending on the model.
Unsure of cost of a used one.
They are located in Bradford. Same issue as before: it's quite a drive from Toronto.
Still don't know if I will have enough interested pilots to rent a decent AULA to located in GTA ...

Re: Advanced Ultralight Instruction and Rental in GTA?
Hi Scout44, Yes, Edenvale is a great place, nice AULA there but it's quite a drive if you live in the GTA and want to do a quick evening flight around the block to relax. Toronto Aerosport is another great school, they are in Baldwin, also not really GTA. There's an AULA at Volk Airfield (Schomberg)...

Advanced Ultralight Instruction and Rental in GTA?
Guys, I’m knocking on your doors again for some advice and insight. I am a private pilot that recently moved from Atlantic Canada to the GTA. I love flying but the rising cost of avgas, the stringent regulations and the extreme rental rates for a decent Cessna are not making is easy to be in the sky...

Re: Participate in Two-Seater in Havelock, NB?
Wow, great discussion with a lot of good information here, thanks for all the replies. I'll PM some of you guys to discuss this further. * Would it be an option to keep the plane in the summer at Havelock and during wintermonths at Moncton? * As far as insurance is concerned, is there a difference b...

Re: Participate in Two-Seater in Havelock, NB?
Thanks for the replies! From how I see it, there are basically two options: 1/ I buy a C150 and form like a flying group around it with a limited number of pilots flying the plane. We keep it low profile. I don't know if I can 'rent' it to friends/colleague pilots without calling it a 'commercial us...

Participate in Two-Seater in Havelock, NB?
Hi Guys, As a new pilot in New Brunswick, I recently visited Havelock Flying Club, as some of you suggested on this forum. Great breakfast and a great place to fly it seems. I'll be a member there soon. Unfortunately, there is no rental airplane at Havelock. All of the pilots own their machine. So t...

Re: Pilots in New Brunswick?
Thanks for the replies, guys! So nothing much to do at McEwan airfield, better luck in Debert or Havelock. I found a picture of Havelock on the COPA website and it shows a ramp full of cozy airplanes on a sunny day. Nice ... Another question about the flying scene here: is (advanced) ultralight flyi...

Pilots in New Brunswick?
Hi guys, I recently moved from Belgium, Europe to Moncton, NB. Being a private pilot, I would like to do some flying here as well. A few questions about the flying scene here in Moncton: Are there licensed (private) pilots what-so-ever there? Any idea on how much? Is there like a flying club or meet...
