Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Those pay scales are years in the position, if you are new to the left seat in the company. If you are coming from the 310 or 330 (left seat) you will slide across to your years as Captain on the other aircraft....plus there is a few other clauses in there. And no - you don't add the 2% for the last...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?
Heard SWG is offering a $15,000 signing bonus for type rated guys. Shouldn't have trouble getting guys from CanJet to come over. Plus I'm told SWG's new agreement pays way more than CanJet - but thats not hard to do.

I thought the LCC was gonna be AC guys. Their new LCC pay scales are for the 767 and 320, nothing mentioned about 737's.

Re: Foreign pilots : Creating Database of qualified Canadian
Gilles,
When do you plan on sending in all of these resumes? Both SWG and CJ have already applied for LMO's, guranteed.
Where is your union ALPA in all of this...they gonna help you send these in?
Keep up the good fight!

Re: Article: Sunwing wants to avoid Air Canada's errors
Gilles: To suggest that the use of foreign pilots is the reason Sunwing is profitable is ridiculous. To the best of my knowledge,Sunwing does not "hire" any pilots. They obtain work permits that allow them to fly C- registered a/c but remain on their respective full-time employers payroll such as T...

Re: Article: Sunwing wants to avoid Air Canada's errors
They've met Canadian or European standards... Whats your point? Are you saying that Canada has higher standards than Europe? Depends who you ask. I was refering more to the Eastern Block...you know, the guys (Captains and FO's) that failed their Canadian PPC, SWG sent them home, then brought them b...

Re: Article: Sunwing wants to avoid Air Canada's errors
At least with CanJet passengers can be guranteed that the Captain on board every single flight is a Canadian pilot, who has met canadian licensing standads. Can Sunwing say the same?

Re: Westjetters back Regional Airline 91% say yes
Hi Dave, In your honest opinion, what are the chances of basing some of these new regional a/c on the East Coast? WestJet has many employees who commute from the eastcoast i.e. YHZ, and there seems to be some out there flying that a Dash or ATR could be productive at. Do you think this could be a re...

Re: Canjet 757's ?
Now thats the spirit jetpilot...the spirit that has made this whole industry shit! As long as Air Transat has and maintians their min guranteed flying I don't know what they can say. Transat needs CanJet to help keep costs down so they can be competitve in this saturated market. Loose that chip on y...

There is a difference between not wanting it and not wanting to fly it...I don't think anyone of us "don't want it".

Re: Sunwing Questions
Guest 737, not true. Not sure where you are getting that from...about the days off. And no, the wages aren't as high for the FO's, but CanJet dosen't stall upgrades (which equals pay raises) by bringing in foreign Captains for the busy season like Sunwing. 100% of the Captains at CanJet are CanJeters.

Re: Write your MP: foreign pilots, TS layoffs
Just for the record, CanJet dosent employ over 150 permanent pilots, I believe its 120 ish (has been for the last 3 years). And we do work for Transat AT, not "Air Transat's work". There is no way Transat AT will give 100% of the flying to Air Transat, then the pilot group holds to much power...if t...

Re: B757 ETOPS program cancelled?
As for Airbus and ETOPS...you still need to be certified. Many Airbus a/c, like many other larger jets already have a "type approval" when they come off the assembly line. But that dosent give the operator an ETOPS ops. certificate. So even if Jazz was to fly the 330's, you still need to run an ETOP...

Re: B757 ETOPS program cancelled?
Jazz being ETOPS certified won't make a difference in allowing them to do more direct routes southward. Even if they were to use one of the more eastward routes through WATRS airspace to go down south they would still most likely be within 400nm of any land mass. ETOPS is primiraly meant for going a...

Re: B757 ETOPS program cancelled?
Could Jazz's ETOPS program have been canceled because Thomas Cook was initially planning on having Jazz do their European routes out of YYZ and YUL in the summer with either 330's of 757's? This past summer was Thomas Cook's last season with the Transat contract to do these routes. My understanding ...

Re: Jazz vs. WestJet comparison: 1 year later
Confused... Could somone help explain the ESP a bit better to me. I've heard/read some pople say they get an extra 40% salary a year. The way I understand it is if you make 100K (or whatever salary) you can invest 20% yourself and the company will match that 20%. But you can't count your 20% as addi...
