https://australianaviation.com.au/2024/02/bonzas-2-flair-planes-will-stay-in-australia-under-dry-lease/ C-FLKC and C-FLHI have been renamed ‘Matilda’ and ‘Bruce’ respectively, and will be re-registered under Australian numbers as their Canadian crews go home. They will become the fifth and sixth pro...

Re: Flair booking on MyIDtravel

They've got to pay their tax bill somehow. Writing is on the wall. Sharpen your resume. Every occasion isn't an occasion to hit on your favourite nail, AIFs got nothing to do with revenu. It's straight up taxes. Nope. Airlines are paid 4%-7% by the airports for collecting the fee. It generates reve...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority

Beyond the additional high credit work, it's the fact that Onex wants to grow the combined group. This gives leverage to all involved to improve the combined contracts. The Sunwing pilot contract has some benefits compared to the Westjet contract, and it would be great if some of these would be inc...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority

Hope its gonna be a fair " merge" . I think some westjet pilots still thinking they can Take all the benefits of the merge...and leave swg pilots behind But lets not forget its not westjet that is in command here..its a business company Onex who decided to merge 2 airlines ... I'm sure there are so...

Re: Day trip schedules

Management has openly talked about launching a Southern Ontario base that would combine flying from YKF and YYZ. Transportation to and from either airport would then be up to the pilot. If they can get away with a Southern Ontario I would bet that YKF will close as a crew base. Swoop tried to do th...

Re: Flair pilot program

Ant, I've been all through these forums, I've seen all kinds of different opinions on this and similar programs. It's unethical to go through an intensive training process, still work through all the ratings, same as anybody else? The difference being the ability to avoid working in the north on sk...

Air Canada isn't "crown owned". They were privatized in 1989.

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority

The article mentions that the Canadian pilots were unhappy with the deal, but not that they challenged it and won. A new agreement with a more favorable ratio was awarded.

Re: Agreement in Principle reached

Who is going to reconfigure their aircraft? Sunwing (189 seats) or WestJet (174 seats) on the -800s and 8s.? Sunwing Airlines is designed to fill up resorts. I don't see them reducing their seats configuration. The vacation division will be run by Sunwing management. Steven Hunter, Len, and Andrew ...

WJ ALPA seems to forget they recommended the current agreement to the pilot group not that long ago. There was a pilot shortage back then too.

They absolutely did not recommend this agreement. It was forced upon them in arbitration. No recommendation, no vote.

Re: Meanwhile in 'Merica

So, facing likely forced arbitration, the union attempted to still negotiate to put itself in the best position possible while covering its mandate (one of which was trying to prevent the company moving too much flying to lower wages at Swoop). Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree with eve...

In Canada it is illegal to discriminate against applicants based on previous union involvement. Are you saying WestJet does?

Re: Helicopter pilot charged after landing in middle of Sask. town to buy ice cream cake

Strange decision to proceed criminally. Reminds me of https://decisions.tatc.gc.ca/tatc/tatc/en/406902/1/document.do I find it concerning that two TC inspectors would rather photograph and videotape this so-called reckless act, than instead speak to the pilot prior to taking off to hopefully avoid ...

C-FKWE, a WestJet Encore De Havilland DHC-8-402, was operating flight WEN3107 from Vancouver Intl (CYVR), BC to Terrace (CYXT), BC with 4 crew members and 43 passengers onboard. During the landing roll on RWY 33, the aircraft departed the cleared area of the runway to the left, contacted a windrow,...

Why is the title of this thread Flair Receivership? The OP is a Westjetter and wants anyone who googles Flair Receivership to get a hit on their search. We could start a Westjet Bankrupt thread and play the same childish game but we have more class than that. If you google "Flair Receivership" you ...

I imagine it is because of the allegation by the plaintiff in the article: "Meanwhile, directors of 777 Partners have allegedly threatened to call in Flair’s debt and put it into receivership if it doesn’t proceed with the leases and expansion plans, which Prescott claims are not in Flair’s best int...
